Default speedo calibration

I have a friend with a 99 EX who needs to have his speedo set 7 MPH slower than his actual speed. I have never messed with speedo calibration, and I haven't ever seen anything about it on forums, just wondering if this is something we could change ourselves, or something he has to go to a shop for.

I guess we could play with resistors, anyone know a convenient place to access the speedo feed?

Anyone know a shop in VA that would do this for him?

$100 for that? Poo. I have larger wheels and tires (than stock 13") B16 LSD and a KPH cluster. Just convert and memorize the conversion, it will make you smarter too.

My question was, how do I set his speedo to read 7 mph slower than his car is actually traveling? (if his actual speed is 67, his speedo reads 60). Like people do to get out of a ticket... set the speedo slow, then get it officially tested. If this turns into another reckless for him, he loses his license. The yellow box looks cool, but only as a last resort, since he needs to have it tested soon, and since the thing is so expensive.

I checked out the yellow box, and my friend is going to buy it. My only question is which wire do I need to splice into. (please don't tell me the speed sensor wire, I know that, how do I know which one it is?)

red = hot wire
black = ground wire
other = signal wire

There are only three on that speed sensor...

why does his speedo read so high? 19" rims? what was he using to determine he "real" speed? after i went from 175/70-13 to 205/45-16, my speedo became more accurate, as the stock speed reads optimistically. i used one of those "your speed is XX" signs on the side of the road for surveying. with taller tires, your speedo will read slower than before

taller tires! i don't think you can change the speedo without adjusting the needle.
