Will these Speakers fit my ITR??
I got a set of Boston Acoustic Pro Series 6.5 component system. Will this fit? It's a component system with a 6.5" inch woofer and a tweeter. I know someone said if I cut out the "basket" for the door speakers, a 6.5" speaker would fit. Is this right? Will these fit? How deep are the holes for the speakers?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
If you're door mounting it just take the basket off entirely and build a baffle with some 1/4" thick wood/lucite.
Or get custom kick panel enclosures.

I just removed the basket entirely and mounted mine directly to the door...
I used some dynamat so it wouldn't rattle against the metal...I didn't really care about putting something behind it as I don't usually drive my R in the rain, so it shouldn't pose a problem w/ that...hope this helps
BTW...I used MB Quart speakers and they are usually deeper than most aftermarket speakers, but the sound quality is

Actually, those Boston Pros are huge. We couldnt fit them in my 99 Civic, or a customers 01 Accord. Well we did put them in the Accord, but when we rolled up the window it scratched the glass bad, we ended up replacing the speakers with different models and replacing the window. I ended up going with the Boston Rallys, but you can always go with the Boston Pro 5s, they should fit no prob.

I think the stock speakers are 5 1/2 inch, so 6.5 inch are asking for trouble. Most aftermarket 5.5 inch should fit just fine. I'm buying Infinity Kappa's, and Crutchfield say's they'll fit ok (hope they're right). I won't drill/cut/mutilate my car to fit some speakers...
Kappas are sweet, you do know they require an external amp right? Thye're high powered speakers and your car deck wont supply sufficent power to move them. To take full advantage you'll need an external amp to run them.
Stock speakers are 6.5".
typer98: Hey, how did you mount the speakers directly to the door? Any steps you can give us, material, etc.?

If I look at the manual for my Boston Pro's it says they are 2 3/8" inches deep. So here's my question, since Crutchfield doesn't sell Bostons, if I find another speaker that is 2 3/8" deep, does that mean the Bostons would fit? Or is this number not the deciding factor?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yeah, I'm also getting a Kenwood amp for 'em. I don't want a sub and another amp for the sub, cause I don't want 50 pounds of stereo equipment in my R, kinda defeats the purpose of the weight reduction in the R, I think.
Yes the depth is the deciding factor. We cut the stock basket out of the door, and the Boston Rallys barely cleared. Just get a tape measure and see how far back it is from th door panel to the window, subtract a few centimeters off and there you go. Like I said, the Boston Pros are nice speakers, very nice. If you want the stock look, try stepping down to the 5.25" Boston Pros. Or better yet, Get the Boston Pro 6.53, its a 6", a 4" and a tweeter. Mount the 4" in the door, and then mount the 6.5" and the tweet in a kick panel. That would sound so nice.
