Digital camcorder search, opinions wanted
I have the Sony PC-110. It's amazing. Super-light, durable and excellent video quality. What else do you want to know??
If you want to upload digi-video you would be best to also invest in a computer with a FIREWIRE input. You also have to buy the Firewire cable separately. Extra batteries and media cards are $$$ too.

yoshi's a baller~!!! geez man VX2000 nice camera....how much you looking to spend? sony does make nice cameras very hard to beat unless u look at Canon's GL1 which is a little cheaper then the vx2000. If you want a 3ccd camera, the sony dcrtrv900 is around 2k. If you want a basic one look into the DCRtrv17 or PC9

anybody able to give me a hint on how to get this to work?
thanks if you do

what kind of output do you have from your camera? If it's 3 (or 2)-component RCA, you'll have to get a little jack to convert the RCA for audio into a 1/8 in. jack . Plug that into the mic in on your soundcard (the red one if it's color coded) and you should be golden. I hope...let me know if it works
u pretty much should get a DV cam everything else is dying away
u get better picture & audio with DV
i like canon gear myself i have the zr30
canon is good for the 600 1000 price range then i would get into sony stuff
dont even think about taking dig stills with these cams, they all suck for that

Well when I still did mass com back in HS we use to use Professional Panasonic AG-400 series S-VHS which cost around $1,300 bucks.
The school just pickup two Canon XL1 3CCD Digital Camcorders at the cost of $3,500 a pop but they come with interchangable lenses and remotes.
Which is basically Sony competition in that range. But weighs 3lbs more mostly because of the extra huge lesnes it uses.
Also which is good because the college here just started using them the Sony DSR-PD150 DVCAM Digital camcorder. There very high end atleast in price with over 3 grand I'm told. You have to have a DVCAM Digital VCR to play it on I'm told as well.
This my baby which I will be using for business and business trips*hopfully before my Japan trip*. Released in Japan in mid June. Sony GT3/K:
DV camera built into a notbook with weight of only 2.4lbs.
At the cost of just under $2,900 bucks. But I plan to upgrade the ram to the max and quad capacity battary and panasonic portable ext. DVD/CD rewritable drive which weighs in at 1.1lbs. Price is going to be around 4 grand for the entire setup.
I hope to get it in Dec. which will probably have the new XP windows installed on it as it's suppose to be upgrading the notbook soon in Japan next month I believe.

Having lots of trouble finding a PC-110 unit below $1399 from any one who does'nt seem shady. I found one for $1100, but when I went to check out, I had to buy $300 "accessaries" battery and charger that "did not come with it".
Should have the pc110 tomorrow. Any recomendations on where to get good info on MPEG decoders etc. Appreciate any pointers for mounting and caveats WRT the R and where to mount it without a rollbar and so on.
do what i did, get the SOny Tripid (very sturdy unit), position it in the boot with all the spare tyres and **** out. Use lotssss of electrical tape to wrap the sucker up onto the rear strut bar. It works great for me, very steady.... actually it doesnt even budge when taking corners etc.
