recycling old Alum. engine and tranny castings. Anyone done this?
Just wondering because I have a couple busted engine blocks and a tranny casting. I just called a place nearby, and they said they'll pay $0.34/lb for cast aluminum as long as all steel and plastic is removed from it.
Plus it benefits our economy, which is in a sorry state right now.
Opinions?

i threw a DX tranny and HF block (an exhaust manifold, couple radiators, an axle...) in the back of my roommates car when he brang it down to be crushed, think they gave him 30-50 bucks for it. i was just happy yo see that **** gone...

Because it's better to get a couple of bucks rather than pay shipping to give them to you.
