Default 5W-30 OR 10W30?

I know Honda recommends 5W-30, I am just curious to what everyone uses. Thanks.

Well I am in Arizona where its basicly hot all year round. Right now I run Mobil 1 10w-30, and was wondering if it would be better to run 5w-30.

If you have a lot of miles, run 10w-30.

Since you live in a area that is constantly hot, running 10w-30 is the correct.

if it gets really hot then 10w30 is probably a better choice.

5w40 is good stuff too...the 5w30's tend to drop off a bit once they get used (they end up 5w20, 5w10...)

One thing you will notice is a slight loss in power from switching, although this will probably go away one the oil really heats up.

10w30 for warm weather and 5w30 for colder.

I went from 5w-30 (what the manual recommends to use)

to

10w-30 and it resulted in less oil burning... so I just stuck with it.

Yeah, the problem I've found is slower response ("transient response")

i don't think honda motor oil is synthetic, which is better for your cars engine, i heard. i used Honda motor oil, but i think i'm gonna use mobil 1 on my next oil change.

well considering a lot of people like me switch from 10w30 to 5w30 twice a year i'd assume it would be okay.

he didnt say it was synthetic, just that its mobile 1 brand. and its not necessairly better for your engine, it varies from engine to engine.

I live in Florida. I use only synthetic, Mobile 1 or Castro syntech, In the summer I go with 15w 50, and sometimes it gets a little chill I go 40. Works good for me!
