can't get 02 sensor off !
How do i get my o2 sensor off. The damn thing won't budge. any tricks you have in mind that i might use? I'm about ready to buy a new 4 wire o2 if i can't get it off. anybody know how much they are?
wouldnt do much good to get a new one it you cant get the first one off anyways would it?
just use the right size wrench and give that a few taps with a hammer if need-be. it has to move eventually...

Just go get yourself a 22mm wrench and muscle it off. They arent like hella on there or anything. It might also help if you spray some wd40 or another type of penetrating oil to "release the bolt" a little bit.
we sprayed it with penetrating oil but it still won't budge. I need to reuse the o2 sensor for my turbo manifold so i need it to still work and not break it while trying to remove the darn thing
pb blaster my friend. this stuff is a godsend. i couldnt for the life of me get mine out. i tried liquid wrench, wd-40, everything. nothin worked until i got some pb and used the closed side of the wrench. instead of cutting the plug just depin it in case you still need the sensor. it will be a bitch to get out but eventually it should start to loosen. as you get more threads showing spray more pb on there and it will come out like butter.

Use PB Blaster and the correct tools. If you can take the manifold off, have it sprayed already and use the o2 sensor special socket. Have a friend stand on the manifold and pretend you are Thor and just undo it. It took us about 2 shots of Blaster and my fat *** standing on the manifold to come out. Then use anti-sieze on ur next sensor to make sure this doesnt happen again, but DO NOT get anti-sieze on the sensor itself. Good luck, but you shouldnt need it.
the manifold is off of the car right now laying on the bench. What is this 02 socket you are talking about and where do i get one? I need this o2 sensor so i can't cut the plug off
are you trying to take it off from the top or under the car. i couldnt get mine off this weekend. i didnt have any kind of leverage and theres not much space to try and put some strength into taking it off from the top of the engine. decided to get under the car and it came right off.

Yup, it's how I got it done. Had to use a second "cheater" wrench on the end of the first one.

the manifold is laying on the work bench.
I don't want to cut the wires b/c if if solder them back together it will have a differn't voltage than it is meant to be. Cutting wires is bad

That's fine..just have a friend hold it still while you try to break it loose!! You can also stand on the edge of it or something like that (take it off of the bench of course)

LOL, thanks for clearing that up. I'm sure there actually are some ppl out there who would actually stand on the work bench
BTW, what is this "special" o2 socket ppl are talking about?

You can also disassemble the plug.....

Just clip it and resolder it...I did it and it works fine for me!!

last idea, I know it works cause it's what I did, but it's a little hard to explain. You can grind/shave the side of the plug end where the clip is so that it is flush and the plug itself will fit through a 6pt 22mm wrench, but just barely. Your plug will still function correctly, but it will not "lock"
EDIT : Let me go take a pic.

i like the idea about shaving the clip a lil. I'll try again tomorrow with the 22mm and if it don't work then i'll shave the clip. thanks
Oh,, do you think penetrating oil will mess up the o2. My buddy sprayed it on the inside of the manifold. wasn't sure if it would hurt the 02 or not.

what type of o2 are you dealing with because mine i was able to take the plug apart all you need is a small jewelers type screw rver and when you remove the white piece in the plug youll see how it comes out. you have to jam the screwdriver on top of the pins and there is tabs that hold them in. they take a good tug to come out though. this is a 4 wire o2 from an ob1 d16z6 btw.
