Default DC5 ITR Head

I am in the market for a ITR head including intake and exhaust manifolds. I was just wondering what i would need/be involved with this swap? I have heard that the K20A and the K20A2 heads are very close buy I see otherwise. I plan on getting the Hondata K20A reflash - will that work with that Type R head or will I need a K20A ECU also? I just want to be safe with high revving, and I already have someone inline to buy my stock head. Give me some advise.

I'm assuming you have a k20a2 already. If that's the case, the head from a k20a should be a direct swap. The hondata k20a reflash should work with the type-r head, and you should be able to use your k20a2 ecu. Might want to verify with hondata first though.

and ITR head will only work on an B-series block, not a K-series

Pretty sure he means the dc5 itr, in which case it comes with the k20a motor. The parts on the k20a, for the most part, are compatible with the usdm k20a2.

Yep, he is definately talking about the DC5 ITR not DC2 ITR. From what I know it should all work nicely. Post your results if you go through with it.

Hey Jack, I have been to P1 a couple of times and you tried to sell me some toda cams and valve springs. Theres a guy who frequently visits your shop down there he has a 02 EP wheels, springs, CAI, and VAFC-II its black you prolly know him. He is thinking about buying my stock head off of me and then with that money I will hopefully get the K20A head. Do you think he will need a K20A2 ECU or what? And for me will I need the K20A ECU? or can I do the Hondata K20A reflash?

correct me if im wrong, but arent the K20A and K20A2 heads the same part, just with a different valvetrain and manifolds. I think it would be alot simpler to just buy that stuff instead of the whole unit? why go through the hassel of reaplacing and selling the current one?

You have to use the USDM ECU for any of the Hondata flashes, and you will have no problems because.................
