I'm planing to purchase my 2000 honda civic si but my friend was telling me that alot of people are starting to hate them now? Someone tell me what they think and why someone would hate on such a great car

As far as performance goes.... build for build a hatchback would be better....lighter, smaller, etc.

But who drives a fully built race car everyday?...lol.

They;re great cars.

 

I could'nt afford a Type R, so I went with a Si. I think it is a great car, maybe I am a little biasd since I own one. They handle good, and there are a million aftermarket options..... I My Si........

 

I haven't noticed people here not liking them.

si's are great cars, a little slow, but i personally love the look of the 99-00 coupes (si or not)

i wouldnt say hate them but most people i kno just tired of gettin their car stolen constanly caz its an si. it gets really gay after awhile

What your friend actually saying is that... most people hates the fact that most 99-SI get stolen...even a stocker...one big reason why Si got jacked so much is the stock b16 motor!!...for thieves stolen a 99-SI=free b16 swap!!

But...dont let that ruin your fun...just get some good anti-thef devices!!

 

i luv my 93 civic si even though it doesn't have the b16 it can easily be brought to the same horsepower with a little work and since there are millions of parts for any civic si i think they are awesome cars

how do you get the car that low and not be resting on the bumpstops? my car is low and the rear is resting on bumpstops i think. i would like to lwer the rear more but dont want to bottom out on the struts. how do you guys lower cars that low? sorry to jack the thread

 

get whatever car YOU like, not what everyone thinks is cool or to their liking. after all, you are the one that is going to be driving it daily. so why even try to impress...look at me, i'm driving a del sol

 

I love my coupe it was a little bit heavy but nothing that striping the *** end out and all the sound deading material out of it couldn't fix. What ever you want to get i love my Si i just hated the stock seats and 3 differant sets of seats later i still havn't gotton the ones i like.

 

maybe some people don't like it beacuse a few si owners give other si owners a bad name by acting all stunnarific just because they got an si yO!

 

I personally love Si's...but here are a few pros and cons...to see where the lovers and the haters come from-

Pros:
Best Stock Honda Civic Ever Made
Stock painted lip, painted sideskirts, red/clear tails, nice grille
Stock nice-looking alloy wheels
Stock amber dash lighting and nice cluster
Leather shift ****
Only USDM Civic to come stock with a B-series motor
The B16A2 is the best thing since sliced bread
Awesome transmission, identical to USDM ITR w/out LSD
30HP over any other stock civic before 2002
8,000 RPM Redline

Cons:
Its a fat porker at 2600 lbs
Seats have no lateral support (but then again, no EK's do)
It has a torqueless B16A2
The D16Y8 makes power over the B16A2 from 4,000 to 6,000 RPM
It runs a 15.7 in the quarter, only half a second faster than an EX
The same motor in an EG will run mid 14's
B16's have no torque
It looks faster than it is
It is a theft magnet
It has no stock theft deterrent system
Everyone and their mother wants every part off of an Si for their EK project, so if you get one, it will probably get stolen and stripped to the bone

you can't really say the Si is a porker when the ITR weighs about 15lbs more. i think if honda just equipped it with a B18C1 rather than a B16A2 it would be a much more respected car.

i loved my Si. if i could have it back i'd take it in a second. but, too bad it was an Si and every god damned thiefs wet dream. it got stolen less than a year after i bought it and was totaled by the insurrance company. the only reason why i would never buy another Si is because theyre the stolen vehicle poster child.
