If you have alot of electrical stuff (i.e. Big stereo and other toys) pulling power then yes, your alt will be doing overtime but, if all you have is a basic stereo and maybe some foglights then NOPE, will be fine, loud but fine.

I have my fans staying on all the time but I mainly track my car, so staying cool is important!

same here, I have a constant fan, ofcoarse a turbo LS motor in a 92 HB needs some air. Especially if you like I have a huge front mount in the front. If your using it for cooling purposes because your engine bay gets hot then do what i did. The only negative affect I know of is that it can less the life of the motor on the fan. My bros went out, SOLUTION. 50 bucks gets you a thinner more larger electric fan which is easy to install. He went to AUTOZONE for that.

hope this helps.
