Default SMS header received

well i just got the header about an hour ago, all i can say is wow. The quality is excellent, the welds are the best i have ever seen. I'll hopefully be installing the header tonight, provided i don't have to get the b pipe expanded to fit the new cat.

I'll definetly post my first impressions once its on and i will post the dyno shortly after the 1st of nov.

I just had to share my excitement, i can't wait to get off work today.

Nov. 1st seems so far away.

what's the dyno gonna compare, or is it just gonna be the smsp header with your current setup?

<-- for your header

I will be comparing it to the dc 4-2-1, i had the car dynoed in june (tuned the vafc). i wanted to do another current baseline, but the lack of funds is holding me back. I recently found out my wife is pregnant with our second child along with other financial issues. So its just not feasible at the moment.

However i still have the dyno from june and nothing has really changed since then (except switching to full syn. oil). I will be using that dyno as the baseline. Once i get the new dyno i will make another thread in which i'll give all the details, pics, etc.

also, the header wasn't installed last night. The b pipe had to have the tapered expansion and new flange welded on. It is currently at an exhaust shop, so i'll hopefully be putting it on tonight. i'll keep y'all posted.

you have to pay for the gaskets, hardware, flanges, etc. I think it was an additional 30 bucks.

Ask dave if you have any questions, he can answer them better than i could.

I can tell you my total was $1356.00 with new high flow cat, header, hardware and shipping.

This is the only picture I have handy of the collector right now. It is the same as the one I use on all my collectors which is like the majority of Hondas/Acuras. The collector tubing passes through the 2 bolt flange and then a graphite donut slides over the tubing. The cat or test pipe is flared to match up with the donut. Then you use (2) bolts/springs to make the joint. The oint provides a pivot point for the exhaust so you don't break a weld. Then the cat or test pipe has a standard 3 bolt flange welded to the outlet side.

edit:image removed

BTW, polished tubing is extra.

Not sure if this has been asked...and I don't have time to search...but would it be a worthwhile mod if I have a 2.25" inlet/outlet Carsound Cat and a 2.25" inlet Thermal Classic exhaust???

I currently have a DC Sports header that I was THINKING about replacing when i get my H22 swap.

Any ideas???

Don't turn this thread into another header argument. Search the site and make your decision from there.

I'm in VA, Steve's in NC, so it only took 2 days for shipping. Another customer is from TX, one from NM and the rest from CA.

If you buy the gaskets and hardware it does.

well i put the header on last night and IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. The gains are absolutely amazing, throughout the entire powerband it pulls so much harder. It feels like a completely different car, i am thoroughly satisfied with this header.

I've had several friends in the car and they also confirmed the increases with they're *** dynos. Also my wife (the hardest customer to please) says she noticed a definite increase in power. I believe her exact words were "holy ****", shes still not happy about me spending the money though.

Well the next step is getting it dynoed, which should take place after the first of nov. Just waiting on the next paycheck. I can't wait to see the increases on paper and how much power can be extracted with re-tuning the vafc. Even if i don't break the elusive 200 whp mark, I'll still be pleased with cost to gains ratio.

Like i stated earlier i will post another thread once i get it on the dyno. All i can say is it was well worth the wait. If you are considering a new valvetrain or some
other mod (as i was), take the money and BUY THIS HEADER instead.

Job well done dave, absolutely amazing. So when are you planning on building that catback exhaust?
