prelude SH or ITR?
if you had around 30k to spend, which woudl be a better car..... im looking for a high performance daily driver...... what kind of numbers can both of these cars put up with about $8k for engine mods? which woudl be faster? which would be more reliable? pictures? experiences? opinions? thanks a bunch...
Aftermarket support and ultimate performance potential goes to the ITR. You can get similar power numbers out of the H22a and B18c5, but the ITR will always weigh less...
Preludes are cheaper and easier to find to begin with. Also the insurance on a Prelude is going to be A LOT less than a TypeR.
If you are planning on putting 8k in mods into a Prelude, don't get the SH model. The ATTS system does not react well to FI. You would be better off performace wise getting a base model and then adding a Quaife LSD.

Here's an article that I scanned for Josh (itrsport.com):

ITR kills typeSH in just about every category... minus luxury items.

HEHEHE... I got a "heavy" 93 prelude.. The 4gen prelude's are fast!! "what itr" =~)
The new ones are not nearly as fast but do have comfort going for them.. If i was in your situation where you are NOT going to track the car.. Get the prelude, it will make a much better daily driver..

I guessed you bailed on the M, oh well, I'd suggest the ITR if I were you, the drelude comes in at 3042lbs!!!!!!!!!! compare that to the ITR that only weighs 26xxlbs. ITR responds fairly well to bolt ons, don't know about the drelude. Why don't you get a RSX type S, or maybe even a WRX. It may be fairly hard to find an ITR that has not been beaten to death.

If you can find an ITR to test dirve, try it out in situations where you expect to do most of your driving. You may find that it's too harsh as an every day vehicle. If not, it's a great car.
I got rid of an SH to get my R because of the R's increased nimbleness. However, I wouldn't like the R as my only vehicle if I had to take it on long trips. It is noisy and harsh. Sure the noises are good ones, but any noise that loud grows tiresome after a while. The type SH has AMAZING handling for a car as heavy and refined as it is. Until you have driven one, don't pooh pooh it as an overweight sloth. No, it can't keep up with the R in quick transitions on a track, but on the street, it is about as fast in the corners because of its better suspension geometry, the ATTS, stiffer chassis, and more predictable behavior. That said, whoever said that the SH doesn't respond well to FI is correct; the Quaife LSD on a Base Prelude would be better for a turbo or supercharged setup.
get the prelude. its a better car. type-r doesn't stand a chance
what planet are u from again?
