Ive been researching this setup for quite awhile and have yet to see a post with some whp numbers. Ive seen plenty of LsV's and CrV's but no poormans itr dyno numbers. My poormans will be the usual block and head combo with some itr slugs or some p30's. Im just interested to see other similar setups. TIA
I had this set-up 3 years ago GSR block with factory o/s PR3's with stock 1gen B16A head no header just intake dynoed 160hp with 132tq pretty good for almost stock! HTH Rob

I have a poor man's ITR setup, GSR block with USDM ITR pistons, ported skunkworks B16 head with skunk 1 cams (12:5:1 compression). 194whp 140 wtq with a shitty 4-2-1 header, full exhaust on pump gas. See sig for et's.
gsr block, .025" over itr pistons
itr head
itr intake mani
itr ex cam
jun type II intake cam
dc 4-1 jdm header
accel 255cc injectors
182 hp and 132 torque

I did the poormans R setup too.
'94 B18C1 GSR
Balanced assembly, acl bearings, spoon jdm ITR pistons,
skunk2 stage 1's, skunk intake manifold, hondata i.m. gasket,
AEM CAI, JUN ECU, portflow/ITR valvetrain, Spoon 4-1 header,
Samco hoses, ACT 8.8# fly, shaved oem crankpulley,
ITR tranny w/ATS 4.9fd, ACT hdss clutch
--->the thing rips.
Hondata and dynotime will be this winter's project (maybe ITB's too)
Also, I woulda been better off now, financially, had I bought a JDM ITR swap instead of building my GSR motor up. The GSR parts I removed I could only sell for pennies compared to what ITR owners can get for their old parts, and it really adds up!

how do you get 12.5:1 compression ratio out of usdm type r pistons?? shouldnt it be around 10.6:1?

I cruise at around 5200 rpm under 80mph.... to stay under vetc. its helped me keep my speeding down actually.. no tickets

Im running a poor mans as well , GSR block fully balanced , ctr pistons, arp rod and head bolts, Ported and polished B16 head with June retainers , springs and stage 3 cams , skunk 2 IM and cam gears,ITR ported throttle Body, 195 fuel pump 320 cc injectors, Aem intake and Toda header. Dont have any numbers yet tuning this month with Aem's Ems cant wait to find out what it makes.
i got one on the engine stand , almost done . wondering what compression it will be . gsr block bored 20 over , 2nd gen b16 head full portflow sp/ret , ctr pistons , arp rod/headbolts , jun 8.8lb flywheel , single belt pulley , ctr camz , vafc , 4-1 header , no cat , yoshimura hyabusa race pipe , cable lsd tranny . any ideas on the compression .

I don't think their would be any more reliability issues than with stock type r's. That is of course unless Chim-Chim was the head mechanic (which unfortunately happens from time to time).
What is so bad about the GS-R head that everyone ditches it to do a poorman itr?
My last setup before it blew was a 94 B18c1 with stock rods, ctr pistons, stock gs-r head, stock gs-r cams, skunk2 im, stock gs-r tb, stock injectors, bullshit $30 intake, stock 99 si header, no cat, custom 2.5" catback and mugen spec p28 vtec @ 5700. It dyno'd 166 whp and 129 wtq untuned just throwing it on the dyno. no vafc
My point is why get rid of the gs-r head for hardly any difference @ all. Just throw a skunk2 im on it if u want.

I have a Poor Man's ITR setup too. I started with a B16a2 so that is the reason I didn't use a GSR head. I am not going to debate the GSR/B16a head, but there are plenty of topics out there about it.
My Setup:
B18C1 block, 81.5mm JE pistons, 12:1 total compression
B16a head, mild port and polish, S2S1 cams, ITR valvetrain, Portflow retainers
DC JDM 4-1, short ram intake w/ custom cold air box, ApexI N1 exhaust, AEBS IM, JG 64mm TB, Prelude 290cc injectors, STR cam gears
Hondata s200, Walboro 255lt fuel pump, B&M FPR, Quaife LSD
187hp and 136 torque, 13.49 @100.6mph in a 2350lb 99 Si w/out driver.
