Condensed summary at the bottom for all you lazy ppl

Ok, there's a lot of people on this board that are here to learn. Hence, "Honda-Tech.com, honda and acura technical resource." I am one of those people. I'm 19. I don't know much, if anything about all this technical stuff. Sure I know how and why a CAI + freeer flowing/larger diameter helps performance. Sure I know that higher compression = more power. But there's all those little things like detonation, timing advance/retard, lift&duration of camshafts that are confusing and I still have a hell of a lot to learn about.

Some people get pissed at me (and others) who don't know and ask. How the hell are we supposed to learn if we don't ask? People forget that at one point, they didn't know jackshit either.

It seems that some people also have a stick up their *** because some punk kids got their cars from their parents instead of working hard and buying it themselves. Well ****, deal with it man, that's no reason to be a dick to the person. My family's not even rich, we have a 1991 toyota previa, a nissan sentra and my car. I feel like a dick that i drive the best car out of my whole family. But my parents are great people and they knew that I dealt with not having a car through all of highschool and freshman year of college which kids around me were the sons of a Regional Boars head distributor who drove a different benz/lexus/bmw to school everyday. And sure, I guess you can sort of call me spoiled, but whatever, I'm paying the insurance, the gas, and any repairs for the car. While going to school. Which is more than some "spoiled punk kid" would be doing. the fact is that I drive the same car you do, and I have a question. I'm sick of seeing replies like "you idiot" or "you have too much time on your hands" or some other demeaning comment. If you can't be cool about it and have to flame on me and don't have anything helpful or nice to say, then don't say it at all.

Sorry, just had to vent at some of the (few) unfriendly people on this board.

Chill out lol.

But on your defense, i believe it is also true that many people not just on the board, but everywhere forget where they came from...they do not realize that they too at one point knew very little and eventually were taught, or learned on their own. If they were taught, i believe it would be a good gesture to teach others and help when they can. If you learned on your own, you know what it feels like not to be helped and how much easier it could be if you were helped and taken under by someone's wing.. so knowing that you should also try to help people....

If you arent in a philanthropic (spelling change) mood....then keep your negative comments to yourself.

I remember a post i read the other day with a remark about how easy somthing is, and made the other person felt stupid...this is bad IMO, it makes people less secure about asking questions due to fear of a negative response. Things may be trival to you because your at a higher level, but not everyone is up there.....this just doesnt only apply to cars but to almost anything...But yeah like momma always said, if you dont have somthing nice to say, dont say it at all.

Teaching others is a good thing, because one day, they may teach you somthing.

To the newbies, dont let the cranky old men discourage you, there are a lot of nice people on this board that are willing to help out. Though, some do get upset on things that are easily searched for and discussed many times because they may be tired of repeating themselves

I like the old saying.....i havent used it in a long time so it's gonna be a bit off..... "Passing on information to others by teaching is a way to achieve imortality"

Take it easy man, everyone has to learn before they know, so asking questions (even dumb questions) is the way to learn. Don't feel bad if somebody says negative comments about your question, as long as your attitude is subtle and sincere I'm sure a lot of ppl are willing to help you. IF you see negative comments I suggest you just ignore it.

 

I am calm. And I am sincere and I always thank the people that replied since they took the time to reply, or post links to helpful sites, or post pictures, or type explanations. And 95% of the guys here are cool like that, its just that the other 5% make me

I'm not sure why, but Josh kind of comes off as an ******* to me. He's always telling people not to steal his pictures and ****, but has no signature on the bottom of them or anything. I don't know, maybe I just feel like picking on Josh. He never was very nice online when I would ask him things. Hmm...perhaps he's a little big-headed? Who knows...

 

What happens when your user rating does get lowered? Do you lose posting privledges?
