Default 85 Prelude engine swap

I have an 85 Prelude. The original engine's head cracked after 197,000 miles. I'm looking for a performance engine to replace it. What kind of engine will fit into it? I may be able to get an engine from an 88 2.0 Si. Will that work? I don't know a lot about this sort of thing. I'm hoping to learn by way of this Prelude. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

No, the 88-91 (3g) b20 won't fit. The mounts are different. Unfortunatly theres not much info here on your generation Lude. Try this site dedicated to the 2g: http://people.clemson.edu/~summerr/2gsite/

3geez is another good site to find info on the b20 that will fit your car. They have a write up for it that still holds true for the Prelude.

The B20A swap has been done but is a huge headache. There is hope the B16 can be done for alil under 2700 w/ place racing Accord mounts and lots of cuting and welding. and you can always build up your motor very few ppl know this but you can make 200 whp w/ this motor and new carbs.

I was under the impression that theres a b20a that was stock in the jdm xxi(?). From what I can tell its not the 3g b20 because the mounts are different and the bell housing looks more like the a series. From reading posts on 3geez this swap is fairly straight forward with similar requirments as the more common swaps. However if your car is carbed, you'll also need to use the si fuel tank and run the lines. Is there any truth to this?

it was a diffrent B20 it was the B20A not the B20A5 it is way diffrent and it will not bolt in. you have to custom make mounts and a lower crossmember for the 2g cradel for it to fit and being that his car is an 85 it is carbed as the PGM-Fi was introduced in 86 meaing he needs to stick to his A18 and carbs for power or find a doner car for an FI conversion. ie pain in the @$$

on a side note if you find a orignal B20A it will most likly be an auto

So my engine is an ET-2? And there is a way to get 200 hp out of it? Are B series engines only found in 3g's? And does that mean that a no B series will fit in my car? I'm just trying to learn here.

The B16 swap would come from a Civic SI, DelSol or a JDM integra XSI. you would need mounts to make it fit but it could and has been done go to the website on my sig and look around. And no not all B-motors cam in the prelude
