what was the lightest year/model combo for the 84-87 crx's?
i'm looking for a cheap beater that i'll eventually turn into a track *****. i'm lookin at getting an 84-87 crx, but i want to know which is the lightest all stock from all years and models...
thanks guys
thanks guys
HF's were the same weight all 4 years. 1713lbs I believe. The other models got a bit heavier through the 4 year cycle, but the HF stayed the same.

Yupp.
Yupp.
1G HFs have major problems though:
-solid front discs
-must change most front sus. to get better brakes
-lighter torsion bars
-half rad
-carbed
If you plan to do many upgrades, I suggest a 84 Dx/1.5/base/whatever (no sunroof, but not FI equip) or an 85 Si (sunroof, but FI equip).

right now all i need out of the car is being able to be upgraded to a d16z6, and being able to actually mod the suspension and brakes.
i'm thinking on using this car to start my road racing expierence. drag racing is getting old, and i've tried autox and i love it...

If you want to autocross, forget having the lightest model and swapping, just get an Si and leave the engine stock for a while while you learn how to drive. Then upgrade tires, suspension, brakes, and then finally the engine.
Better yet, get an '89-91 Si. It's the car to have in STS right now, and it can be made competitive in just about any class you want to run - HS, STS, CSP, SM, DM, or whatever. Or if you are hell bent on doing an engine swap, get a '92-95 CX or VX.

thank you much sir...
i dont know why, but i've just always wanted a first gen rex. I know I probably wont be competitive in autox, but I want something i can learn in that doesnt matter if it gets thrashed

my God man! 1725 lbs.?! I've got a crvtec in my 88 si, a little over 2100 lbs., and I'm amazed at the acceleration. Minus 300 lbs., that thing must be crazy.
btw- I used travel to DC regularly and thought Alexandria was a great city.
My wife still wants to move there.

ummm, did you put an inline fuel pump in there on your crvtec? my car is in the shop and they ran it with the STOCK fuel pump and went 205 whp with it leaning out on the top end - boy was i pissed but no damage
roll cage coming next, as that car is l-i-g-h-t
