H&R Coil Overs Question?

Guess I need to raise the car a bit more.
500# in the rear is bouncy at the moment (prolly on/near bumpstops).
I've got some 400# springs I'll prpbably stick in the rear, and will raise the car 1/2-3/4" so the shocks have a chance to work (better). Also raising the car will help in some of the driveway issues (as it is it JUST clears getting onto the Hunter alignment machine).
I don't have any understeer, but the front end is too soft for my liking.
I've got a Mugen (26 mm) rear bar in at the moment, and and am thinking of installing the Mugen front one as well.
When I get around to it next month I'm thinking I'll raise the car (as is) and see how I like it.
Next I'll either install the front Mugen Bar or the 400# springs (to balance out the car, or just stick the 400's in the back instead of the 500's if raising the car doesn't help the "bounce" situation).
I've also got Mugen strut tower bars (front is here, rear is backordered), the 4 pt. harness guide bar will also help stiffen the car.
So, I'm most likely going so see how things work out with these planned "adjustments", and then proceed from there.
There's a lot to be said for "off the shelf" (i.e., Mugen, Tein , Spoon ... packaged solutions).
Maybe I'm just picky, maybe just hard core, but I regret trying to be "cheap".

hmmm . . . i run a GC/koni setup, 400# rates in the front and 300# in the rear. i was thinking of switching to the R-specific bilstein sports . . .
i have the stock swaybars now, and while it's fairly neutral, at the limit it's got a touch of understeer - probably safer (for me . . .
).
i know what you mean about too soft in the front. with mine, i have basically no brake dive or 'softness' in the front - it's perfect. but the rear, i believe, needs some work.

I shouldn't be knocking what I have before I'm done "tuning" it.
But, ... a drop in Mugen set up would have been nice!
I'll let you know how it turns out in a month or so after I've had more time to play with it at Deal's Gap.
springs and shocks, springs and shocks, springs and shocks .... we'r off to see the wizard ...haha

yes, a mugen lowdown kit would be nice, but . . . cha-ching! half the cost, plus adjustibility is definitely more attractive.
i chose the konis initially because of the adjustibility, but now i kinda want the r-specific bilsteins, just because they are made for the car, and can handle higher spring rates (so i hear...).
good luck with the sus. tuning!

Make me an offer.
Bilsteins w/GC coilover kits, 2 sets (pairs) 300# springs, 1 set 500# springs, 1 set 400#.
Only been on the car since june or so.

My CRX finally handled GREAT (Illuminas, torsion bars, f/r sway bars ...), then my little brother gave a pickup a love tap, and then a couple months later (at 273K miles I toasted a piston chasing down a Corrado).
Our e-mail's been down all morning, IM's also OK

Hey Zygspeed, didn't you cut/trim the bumpstops?? I cut about 1.5" off mine.
My setup
Eibach ERS 400#F/600#R and 26 mm rear bar
Bilstein Sports
GC Perches

No, apparently not.
I took it in to a quasi-race shop / honda tuner, and hoped for the best.
It's a bitch not having a garage in the back yard to work on your own ****!
I used to drive to Ohio from VA to do this kind of stuff, but got lazy.
Thanks for the suggestion Phat R, ... I haven't given up on this set up just yet!

yes, trim the bumpstops!
ed, i'm not quite ready to buy the bilsteins yet . . . thanks for the offer, though.
i just bought a new couch and an oriental rug, my finances are toast for a while.

I've had the H&R race coilovers on my car for a little over a year and a half. There's absolutely no need to adjust dampening, they are fine for both street and track, although I have never taken it there...
No complaints, not a rough ride at all.
