oil leak after reassembly
just got my motor back from GE. put it back together in a couple days. when i crank the engine i get a leak from the oil cooler. for those of you who don't know where it is, it's where you screw in your oil filter. anyway, it's leaking between the cooler and the engine block. i went and bought a new oring from honda, and it's still leaking. any ideas?
You have to torque the **** out of that thing. I check the service manuel at Honda and I couldn't find a spec. I made it as tight as I could with a 1/2" drive. Make sure that the surfaces are flat. Make sure the cooler doesn't spin while you're tightening it or the O-ring will rip and you're back to square 1.
so i assume that since i got such a quick response, that this is a regular problem with rebuilding? any idea how much torque you put on it. i may remove the intake manifold again to get better leverage on it next time.
