Default Weird radiator problem

I was idling my car today when I noticed my temp guage was very high. I looked in the engine bay and my overflow bottle was full, and it looked like antifreeze was coming out of the radiator cap. I just waited for my fan to come on and everything was back to normal and I put some water in the overflow bottle. I drove after and it was perfectly fine. Why did this happen?

Your radiator cap probably died and now it can't hold enough pressure in the system.
