Quality of DC 4-1 header?
Is the quality of this header decent? It is not the JDM version. Would the JDM version be much more beneficial than the regular CC header? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Mike

In all honesty, I wouldn't waste your time with the regular DC header. I've seen the stock US ITR exhaust manifold make more power than a US DC header on more than one occasion on the dyno. Take it off, and separate the two pieces. Open the ports on the upper piece, and smooth it all out with a 6" extension jagged ball piece on a air tool. I forget the proper name for it, but you know what I am talking about. Then clean up the nasty welds on the bottom piece where the two round gaskets are. Make sure that the upper four ports are the same in size, and *slightly* larger than the exhaust port on the head.
With these modifications, you'll probably gain a solid 2 or 3 hp no problem. I've seen it with my own two eyes on my friend Mike's motor(B18C5 w/ 12:1 Rollerwaves).

Well my plans right now (to buy all at once and install as i find the time): AEM CAI, Comptech Lightened flywheel, AEM cam gears, VAFC, maybe some custom exhaust work to rid the bottlenecks and of course dyno tuning at the end

I would recommend that you get a JDM Honda 4-1 and a high flow cat to bolt up to the stock exhaust...then get rid of the bottlenecks in the b-pipe. If you do that, you should notice some gains...if you get a USDM DC and keep the stock cat, I don't think you'll gain anything. Hope this helps.
What if i ditched the header idea and just kept the OEM equipment??? I mean i would have the OEM header, high flow cat (probably carsound), and some custom exhaust work to rid bottlenecks. How does that sound? Is the header really needed???

Don't spend your money on the US DC header get the JDM version. You will get a lot more power with a High Flow cat. The DC header is rip off the MUGEN 4-1 header. Obviosly not as nice

from someone who has actually dyno'd both the dc sport header and a jdm 4-1, i would say it depends on how much mods your planning on doing. if your sticking with the basics, i/h/e, get the dc sport. it'll be alot cheaper and u'll get more hp. if u plan on doing cams or any headwork then get the jdm which would make more hp.
if you get a new flywheel do a new clutch too....don't put a used one back in especially a stock one...unless your aftermarket clutch has few miles on it!
I thought there were several guys on this board who had the CompTech aluminum lightened flywheel on their R's with the stock clutch. They said they had no problems if i remember correctly.
