Default FYI on shipping

Today i shipped out of Los angeles 2 oem civic side skirts to SOuth carolina
IT cost me $12 > Now i see on sites and some people charging $25 to $50 bucks
to ship lips skirts. etc. Well i feel its bullshit and incase anyone wanted to know how much it does really cost to ship something like that here it is. Basically if anyone is charging you more than $20 they are lining their own pockets

^^^ *Applause*

Another FYI: For anyone shipping from the States to Canada, PLEASE check the "Gift" box on the shipping manifesto... it saves us a ton of money in duty, etc.
Thanks!

It would help if you said what carrier you used, and how big the packaging was. USPS? UPS? FedEx? Greyhound?

LIke the others said, it all depends on what method of shipping you use. Some people don't like to use US Postal and would rather use UPS or FedEx which provide better tracking systems. UPS and FedEX obviously cost more. It cost me $25 to ship an ITR lip from NYC to CA through UPS.

It also cost me $120 to ship a set of 95 GSR rims with no tires from NYC to WA using UPS just to give another example.

well yeah it kinda tru. usps and some other shipping company are a lil cheaper then other. but really it depend on the weight and where the location the part(s) is shipped to. i ship out parts range from 1lbs. to 500 or more lbs everyday. but i too agree that some people just take that shipping fees thing way out of hand.

AND USPS TRACKING REALLY SUCK! DON'T EVER BOTHER PAYING THE EXTRA DOLLAR FOR THE TRACKING CONFIRMTION. IT DOESN'T EVER SHOW UP ON THERE SITE. i only ship thing out with UPS or FEDEX. but with heavier object that can't go through them then it some other freight company.

Don't forget, by the time you add tracking, signature confirmation and insurance, UPS/FedEX and others cost about the same.....

BTW - Those same sideskirts through UPS would be about 3x more due to dimentional weight.

And don't forget about packaging. Tape, boxes, pens and
everything else. It all adds up. Plus the time it takes to do
it all. If its too high don't buy it from that place/person.

You guys think that you're getting jacked on shipping. I've been overquoted too many times to remember. Just because I'm in Hawaii, it's like an automatic extra $25-$50 is taxed on to the regular shipping. I understand that shipping to Hawaii will be more, but a lot of times we get taken advantage of. There are several people who I have dealt with in the past who are very accurate with their shipping charges/estimates. Most of the overchargers are off of eBay. What gets to me is that they'll quote me like $30 to ship a distributor via Priority mail, and when I get the box, the shipping charge on the box is only like $12 or so. FedEx and UPS don't make things easier either. We can only get stuff shipped to us by 2nd day air. However, when shipping things out, we can ship either 2nd day or Ground service. Oh well, the price you pay to live in Hawaii. Sorry for the rant.
