Default Plastic Inner Fender Well FELL OUT!!??

Umm.....this was weird....I was driving home from a relatives and I'm pulling up into my drive way and *crunch* My friend was just walking out to leave and came over. I was like what the heck! What happened?? So I look out and my inner fender well on the passenger side ripped off?? The plastic piece came right off. I just put on my stock intake a few days prior just to take it to the dealership and it has remained so ever since. My question, when you take your car to the dealership, do they remove the plastic underneath? If so, then I would think that this is there fault, because the whole piece ripped off, each hole, including where the bolts and plastic clips are. Each hole is ripped and the entire passenger side wender well is open. For example, if I had my CAI on you could see the filter and nothing would be protecting it. I'm lost??? I don't know what to do? Would everyone here just recommend going back to the dealership and asking them to replace the piece (btw, I have an extended warranty) or would they come back at me saying it was my fault due to the intake, or my OEM Bodykit that I "installed incorrectly"?

Not that this helps, but I had an 88 Legend with like 246,000 miles on it, and both of my inner fenders fell off at different times. One time I was going like 80 on the highway, and I hear this crunch! I look in my side mirror and see this HUGE piece of plastic doing flips down the fast lane. It was pretty funny. Sorry I couldn't help you. I wouldn't think that a fender well that new would just rip off. I would ask the dealer about it.

my guess would be if ur car is lowered... forget about the dealer warranty on that... they will definately blame it on the fact that u are lowered... as for my cars... i have never left them on... but the again i never had a cai... and since u do... i wouldnt drive in the rain without the cover... i have seen it done... but it was with a differant filter than just a k&n

hell yea. That's what the dealership told me since my car was lowered it contributed to the thing coming off, u could see the Aem cai and everyting, but It's about $115 to get a knew one ($65 for fender well the rest for intsall) but I'd just argue and say they did a crappy job.

My car isn't lowered, the only mods are the mods listed in my signature. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and hopefully they will be kind enough and replace it. So, when you get your oil changed at Acura, they take off the plastic piece though correct? BTW, my stock exhaust is on right now, w/o the resonator, because I was planning on putting the AEM back on, but now that this happened there is no way I will install it obviously. I'll let everyone know what happens tomorrow. What a pain!

dude, what probably happened is when you took off the AEM u had to peel back th eplastic right? well u probably didnt fasten it properly to the bottom and it caught the wheel and tore it off. how do i know this......cause im an ******* who did this!!! the dealership shouldnt have removed it for any reason. why did u remove your intake? whay did u have done to ur car at the dealership?

Hmm....I'm lost now. I took my car to the dealership to get the oil changed, fluids, etc. I took off the AEM before I went to the dealership and put on the factory intake minus the resonator which is right by the passenger wheel well. Soooo......would you recommend? Blame them, because as far as they know, I haven't had to remove the inner fender well. But then again they are a dealership and know everything somehow, someway. HELP!!

Changing oil (or any other fluid that I could think of), doesn't require the fender liner to be removed. And you shouldn't have to keep replacing your intake back to stock every time you make a trip for service at the dealer. You'll most likely have to pay for a new one yourself.

Hey, forget aaaabbooout it... Dealship is not gonna help you out on that. I agree... they are gonna say it's your fault. I just ordered a new one to replace mine that ripped off a little while ago. I fixed it but eventually it came down again and ripped off while I was driving. Cost me about $65 installed. No big deal, but I had to replace it since I live where it's gonna snow. (IL)

Even if its not your fault, unless the dealer is just nice, they are going to say you probably hit something on the road, or something. Either way, they will blame you.

I did the same dumb *** thing. I don't think the plastic clips that attach the fenderwell are not ment to be reused. They only cost a couple dollars at the dealer compared to $72 for a new fender well.

I recently replaced my fender liner as well.. It tore out because I didn't fasten the clip on the bottom of the liner. Now the problem that I'm having is my replacement liner is bubbling out because I took out the resonator. The front of the passenger side tire rubs the liner. (The part of the liner that's buldging out is right in front of the empty space where the resonator once was) I can't remember.. but did the old liner have a fastener that fastened to the resonator? How did you guys secure your new liner without the resonator? I checked and made sure that all the orginal fasteners were back on..
