port to match
What are the benifits and power increases from port to match on a JG intake manifold and lovefab turbo manifold? How much does this usually run in cost to have professionally done? I heard of people getting an air powered grinder and doing it themselves but is this an amatuer task?

Port matching a manifold to the head is very common. How much power you get will vary. If there's a lot of material to remove, you can start with a die grinder and a carbide bit. You use the gaskets to match them. Check the fit of the intake/exhaust gasket to the head, it should be the same size, and then use the gasket to scribe an outline on the intake/exhaust manifold.
Use the die grinder to open up the port to match the scribe line. Its better to go close to the scribe line, but don't go over it. You can do final cleaning with a sanding roll.
Aftermarket manifolds will taper the ports to fit just under the stock port size at the last inch or so. So smoothing out that area after opening up the port is a good thing. While your at it with the sanding roll, you can do some smoothing on the ports as well.
If you are good with your hands, its an easy task to do, if you have access to the tools, or don't mind buying them.
