why do turbonetics turbo's SUCK
Some people say thier quality control has gone down the tubes the last couple of years.I think but Im not sure it was caused by a change of ownership/management or something like that...but dont quote me on that.
BTW....no problems here with my 4 year old/40,000 mile turbonetic t03/04b I bought from the guy above me

I have a turbonetics t3/t4 and I haven't had any problem yet..I ran 14.4@99.89 @8 psi. stock tires 185 60 14. and a stock muffler no cat..tires spinning crazy 1st and 2nd..ran this @ Palmdale a month ago..
i dont want to coment on things i can't back up technically..
only input I can add is we've used Turbonetics turbos on garys car for 4 years now. We've never had one break on us. they never smoked like people complain about. we always run the turbos to the max, the current one we're using now is seeing up to 47psi up top and we've ran it for a good part of the season.
turbonetics was always there for us from the beginning helping us out

The turbo i got with my new drag 3 kit started to leak oil by the seal within a month or so. I called turbonetics to see what they could do. They said 250bucks for a rebuild, there was no other help rather than send in turbo and money. I know the turbo did not go bad due to install cause it was like the 3ed turbo on my car, none of the others had any probelms, i just changed them due to size. Im sure people get great turbos from them, but if you get a bad on watch out, there no help. I now roll with precision on my sr20det, When i recieved the turbo it had a slight scratch on the inside of the compresor and the blades sounded as if they might be rubbing, even though i spun fine. Rather than take a chance I called them up, and with no questions they sent me a ups call tag, payed for shipping to them, swaped it out, and sent me a new one. I repeat NO questions asked. I purchaseed the unit from motormatrix.com, but mike was not around due to moving shops, so I delt with precision one on one, no dealer and they still gave me this service. Honestly I have never had better service, my import car experiance. These guys dont play around, Yeah so the precison cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for. I give them a 10 out of 10!
Precision turbo already started the bandwagon...evolution. Its like the 60-1 was the big hit just yesterday. Now its all about the sc61 EVERYONE has and/or some new pt72 with a GT q trim exhaust wheel that was just developed

So dosent Turbonetics sell the GT wheel technology, has anyone had experience with it. I have used Turbonetics with no complaints. I will also say that their WG is very good namely the RaceGate. Its no secret that there is a Tial bandwagon going on in here.
I think it more or less by the way the turbos work.
Don't get me wrong, Turbonetics makes some awesome tubos! But they aren't the most modern turbos. Some still have journal bearings.
The problem was that the aftermarket just couldn't get any turbos straight from Garrett. But that's starting to turn around and getting a modern GT series turbo is much easier. More modern wheels and better effciency.

-Larry and all of shitty products started to suck.
-DSM injectors started to suck (beacuse they started not working with Hondata)
-Since FMAX sucks beacuse they're overpriced
-Since JDM started to suck
-Since PFC sucked because Hondata is just BETTER (no reasons why...they just ARE)
Or pretty much everything that went in my car
It all sucks because WE SAY SO!!

Turbonetics isn't what it used to be. First, their customer service really sucks *****. When did you ever hear about waiting on the phone for 40 mins just to order a turbo? And when you talk to the guy over the phone, it sounds like he really hates his life and job.
Second, it seems that their workmanship has taken a step back ever since all the original guys left and start Innovative turbo. All the good guys from turbonetics, back in the day when everyone used turbonetics, are the owners of Innovative turbo now.
Third, ever since they landed those big multi-million dollar deals with car manufactors it seems like they are really catering towards them rather then "Us". It seems like their whole business, now, is geared towards mass producing those turbos for the factory cars.
Now this is strictly from my personal experiences with turbonetics. They lost my confidence as a customer when I had to wait 40 mins to order up a turbo worth $2,000 and then make me wait 3 months for it, while stating it would take them 3 days to get it all together. That was the last straw that broke the camel's back, and since then I have been buying my turbos from Innovative. They haven't let me down yet.

I remember reading about Turbonetics losing their distributorship with Garrett. Anyone in the game know more about this? PTE? Art? Anyone?
Sorry, can't really comment on that one. There are a lot of places out there where one can buy turbos now. We all have our pro's and con's, have people that like us and don't like us. and offer products that some have good experiences with and others don't. The bottom line is that you have to use what makes sense for you in terms of performance, cost, warranty and service.

I run a Turbonetics T3T4B for 3 years now with no problems. i think it's more or less a bandwagon thing. I can't commenet on there customer service, since I never call them. I think one of the reasons why alot of people are disliking them is because of the big uprise of Precision's SC61. Alot of people say that the HiFi 60-1 did not produce at high rpms like the SC61, and the fact that the SC61 is alot cheaper than anything comparable to what Turbonetics makes. Never the less theres nothing wrong with them, just a bandwagon thing. Hell, my next turbo is going to be an SC61

i'm looking into turboing b16a, and sc61 is right because i'm trying get into 320hp, and it's about same price as a nice t3t/4

I have not been happy with the turbonetics turbo t3/t4b I received in my Drag kit. the thing started to leak and burn oil within the first 3 months of having the turbo. When I called turbonetics direct they were not very helpful at all, explaining that it was me and not them. "You probably didn't install the oil return properly." I didn't think that was possible since I went through the proper precautions to have it flow freely(oil return not at 90% bend to the oil pan and trashing the crap Drag supplied in their kit).
So, I had it checked by Majestic in Waco, TX(great customer service btw) and they diagnosed it as manufacturer assembly error. I believe Mike is the guy that looked over my turbo. They reassembled the turbo and installed new turbo seals. So far the turbo has been running strong for 2 years solid. Bad part about it is, I now have a $950 turbo. look at sig below
