I was searching a good CF hood to buy and I have found several manufactures who make really good quality hood and are much less expensive than Spoon.
I don't know if this is sales talk, but I have found one manufacture who claimed that Spoon is pretty shitty quality and that there's is better. They sited that although the fitment and the baking procedure that Spoon uses is very good, the quality of the clear coat is very poor and starts to fade or turn white after a year.
Can someone (with first hand knowledge) confirm or dismiss this?

Well my FI hood is the same way.. PERFECT fitment [well not anymore since my front end needs work] but after a good year and a half it kinda bubbled under clear.. I don't really care though as I'm just gonna paint it later on.. so I dunno it might not be that the hoods are peices of **** maybe they don't care for look of the cf hood?
yes, my spoon hood needs to be redone. Fitment is top notch, but their coating does suck. I also have a previous spoon hood in the garage with less use, looks almost new.
Here it is with a fresh coat of wax:
but when it heats up with driving, it will fade again...

i bought mine from VIS. great fitment. i've had it for over a year now and it still looks brand new. i wash it atleast once a week. so far, i've put 6 coats of Zaino on it....looks great.
the hoods come with a clear coat, you treat them as if they were any other body panel on the car. in other words.....yes you can wax them.

Yeah but why, after the clear coat wears off, perfect time to paint match it to your car. Then you wont have to worry about fading anymore.

you have to remember alot of the spoon stuff was meant for racing only the hood is a true lightweight hood not like alot of the companys out there where as the CF are heavier then the stock hoods..the spoon hood has a very tight weave like the spoon lip and its meant for racing..as far as the fading is concerned I took my hood and had it cleared they took out alot of the blemishes that came with the hood and really brightened it up

Wurz is one of the many companies I am looking into...they cost about as much as spoon but their quality looks a lot better:
Fitment (check out the tolerances):
The hood striker:
The overall quality of the weave:
