hmm what part is this? isn't something supposed to go here??
Looks like the nipple on top of the transmission right where the cables attach. A rubber plug usually covers the top of it. I use that hole to fill my transmission with oil.
if you have a manual trans, then there is no dipstick to check the fluid level, and that is just a filler hole. If you have an auto then you need to find the dipstick that goes in that hole. If your worried about it, just find something to cap it off with.
Hmm, I capped mine off and it started blowing fluid out around the shift fork-- I took the cap off after a 20 mi. drive and it popped off, it was totally pressurized in there. I just left it off- figured it was a breather.
thats not a fillelr hole its a vent/breather tube for the tranny. It is suspposed to have a rubber cap that allows it to breathe without worrying abouto anything falling into the tranny.
the filler hole is just behind the axle on the diffrerential.
