Not Honda, but Questions about Turbo MR2
Hey guys, I am trying to help my friend who is looking into buying a MR2 (92-95) or whatever the years those body styles are made. I like the fact that the N/A one is a 2.2L and are much easier to find, but are the internals similar?? I would imagine that the 2.2 is jsut a stroked 2.0 that they put in the turbo ones. I tried to contact Greddy about putting one of their base kits on the car (my friend wants the kit with the Td06, which is also used on a Supra kit and a rx-7 kit), but I was curious if anyone had ever done this. It is super cheap and does'nt say that the manifold is included, and also doesnt say wastegate. I just assumed that the td06 uses an internal wastegate like the tdo4h-15g on my car. Does this kit reuse the stock exhaust manfold or what?? Anyone have any insight on this idea??
Cliffs: Want to turn a NA MR2 into a Turbo MR2

I'm still learning a ton about the SW20 MR2 since selling my 93' Si hatch and getting the 2. However, from my reading the MR2 board I can tell you that almost everyone seems to be in agreement that you are far better off getting a 3SGTE (turbo engine) as opposed to the NA and then turbo-ing that. The NA obviously runs higher compression, does not have the knock capabilities nor the overall strength of the MR2 Turbo engine. But anyway, I'm still quite the layman with this stuff. The absolute best thing you could do would be to sign up on the MR2 board. There seem to be a handful of guys on there that are very thorough and really know their stuff.
