DEI makes two different options... both 6 tone blah blah... one's larger and deep. personally I like the smaller one

yeah, DEI is louder than most and the smaller version is perfect to hide.

you oughta try and rig it so that you have an airhorn hidden somewhere in the chassis and whenever the alarm goes off, so does the airhorn. the theif wouldnt even think to stay there and try and steal it cuz itll make him go deaf.

yeah i got the air horn under the hood but I dont know how to wire it right. Because the alarm gives out to the siren constant (+) when it goes off. If I hook it up to the siren, the compressor will give out. I need a way to figure how I can make it go on and off while the siren is going on constantly.

Not to highjack, but my installers placed my siren in plain sight under the hood. Is that bad?

I had the same problem. What I ended up doing was taking 2 DEI 514N sirens, opening them up, and cutting different chirps in each one. The first plays tones 1,3,5 and the second plays tones 2,4,6. I installed them off a relay and they are friggen loud. Especially when they hit the last two tones. You outa try it!

you see those horns for regular alarms are jus regular horns....airhorns are much louder. think of a horn on top of a semi. thats an airhorn. they hurt like hell when they go off near your ears. no one has an airhorn in their car, im pretty sure of that. but people should invest in em because they would be great for scarin off theives.

you can program the DEI's to do a pulsed siren output rather than a constant

I'm in the process of installing a police siren (to use just the "blip" or buzzer horn sounds) through a PA type horn using the alarm's pulsed output. These put out 200 watts

Put the second horn under the back of the car, pointing at the ground. That works well because there is nothing to block the sound from splattering off the ground (ie: motor, wiring, tranny). Also the thief has to go to the other end of the car to stop the second horn. Put fuses on the leads for the horns so when one gets shorted out (thief cutting wires), the other will keep going.

if you really want to mess with a thiefs head you install like 2 sirens on the outside of the car and then one of those small DEI sirens under your dash that is set to go off when your door opens so the guy gets a blast in his ear as he goes to unhook the alarm wires

Clifford has a self powered siren, that even if the power is cut, it will still go off. I will eventually get one of these, as for now i have a clifford alarm, and in the cabin, i have a mini-piezo siren.. which is LOUD as fawk ... soon to put in a full size one to accompany it.
