Default 93' LX question about revs

When i jump on the freeway and make my way to 70 mph, I'll hit 70 and stay there then a minute later my revs will spike from 2500-3000 rpms. What gives, and its not just my needle, the engine revs also. Two days ago coming from Orlando i was doing 90 and my revs went down a couple hundred rmps, just like that and stayed there. I was doing about 3500 @ 90mph?? Its usually around 4000. BTW its an auto.

i have noticed sort of the same thing with my 92 accord automagic. when i'm cruising on the freeway going like 70-80, and maintaining that speed, my RPM gauge and engine will slow down a couple hundred RPM, as if it shifted into another gear, which i know it hasn't. I dont know if its some sort of automatic overdrive, and it really IS shifting into another gear that i dont have control of. But i've always wondered why it does that.

i do know that the ecu's have a torque convertor lock down, this might be it, that way to protect the system overall

It is shifting... It is the equvalent of overdrive or the "sport" buttion the 90-91 accords.
