Default which clutch to use with 98 D16y7 paired with 91 Civic Si tranny going into 91 civic dx hatch

The title pretty much describes my question, I want to order a new exedy clutch kit for this setup before i put it into my 91 civic hatch dx

i have a 98 D16y7 and am using a 91 civic si cable tranny, which year and engine clutch kit should i order? in other words, what will work? do i need the 98 d16 clutch kit, or the 91 civic dx clutch kit? then again, they are probably interchangeable, but i was looking for reassurance before i go ahead and order and install

thanks HT civic crowd!

I'm pretty sure you use the clutch for the tranny. The later D16s are hydo trannys, and the earlier ones are cable. So you'd need the 91 clutch.

YOU CAN USE EITHER CLUTCH SET, BUT ALL PIECES HAVE TO BE ONE OR THE OTHER. IN OTHER WORDS, WHATEVER FLYWHEEL U USE, USE THE CLUTCH SET THAT GOES WITH THAT FLYWHEEL. BUT USE THE RELEASE BEARING THAT MATCHES THE TRANNY. HOPE THIS HELPS
