everyone with CRV's would disagree that B20 is not a daily driver engine.

Want torque? Get an LS if your not interested in Vtec. Go for the B18c if you care. If budget doesn't matter, get a C5. Oh, if you want lots of torque get an H22 but be aware of the things you have to do for that.

IMO, Once a motor is tampered with I feel like it is not realiable anymore. IMO again.

Do you guys even know what kind of car he has? If you have a CRX, a b18 non VTEC engine is plenty of power.

a mild turbo setup would probably be the best way to get torque. However if you don't wanna go turbo, then a swap is about the only other way to get decent torque. You just aren't going to get a lot out of a 1.6L

LS/VTEC= not a good daily driver. give us more details like on your price range etc. if you just want some torque i suggest you go LS turbo.

Exactly what I thought when I read the title. All you guys who bash LSVTEC don't know crap. In all reality, if built correctly, you guys cannot show me one peice of evidence that a LSVTEC is unreliable. Nothing will ever be as reliable as a stock OEM motor, but nobody on here seems to be happy with OEM performance ( I myself was not), so we take on the associated risks of unreliability to gain performance. Just make sure that you build a motor correctly and keep up the maintence religiously, and you will be fine with whatever setup you choose. My vote is for SOHC turbo.

Why would a B20 be any less of a daily driver then an LS/VTEC or any other Honda B-Series motor for that matter. I hate this mythical CR/LS Vtec's aren't realiable bull ****. If ignorant people wouldn't go buy an LS block with 180,000 miles that's been sitting at the junk yard for 5 years and slap there VTEC head on and call it a day. No wonder.

so youre gona tell me that a motor with a rod ratio of of 1.54:1 is reliable to rev all the way up to 8 or 9 grand???? i don't see what the big woppied freakin doo is about LSVTEC just bor out a gsr or c5 alil bit more and there ya go you have youre self the same thing as a b18b but with a much better rod ratio, lsvtec started out as a cheap way for ls guys to get vtec then they started building them when if reality you can get just as much hp and more if you do the same work a c1

a complete b20 swap with a GSR tranny is under 2k, i'm getting mine for 1500.

146hp/133 torque. what's so bad about that? complete b20 swaps are not that hard. maybe you were thinking of h22?

swapping in a b20 is about equal to a b18b w/ gsr tranny in terms of price and difficulty. b20's are cheap and powerful. Just stay away from USDM weaksauce b20's.

Get a clue. I can buy an LS block for next to nothing and bore it out the same I can a GSR block and with the extra money build the head. Anyway you slice it XX bore x 89 is still bigger then XXbore x 87.2

do you know what the r/s ratio is of a b18c5? how about even a b18c1 for that matter? ill tell you one of them is a whopping 1.58:1. a whole .4 over the ls/vtec combo. Ls/vtecs are awesome motors if you dont cut corners when putting them together. I dont care what anyone says, if you tear any motor apart, ANY motor, including the beloved b16 with its r/s of 1.74:1, and put it back together 1/2 assed and cut corners, something will go wrong.

A few years ago I would have said you're crazy, but nowadays, I'd have to agree that once tampered with, reliability is in jeopardy.

I never said to rev your LSVTEC or CRVTEC to 9k. Agian, that is USER error, not build quality problems. Know the limitations of your setup and drive accordingly. I personally do not give half a **** about a LSVTEC or CRVTEC for that matter. I dont give half a **** about VTEC period. I run a y7 with a turbo on it and love it to death. I'm just tired of hearing people bitch and moan over how a friend of a friend of a friend had LSVTEC and it blew up because the build quality sucked.

Good point, but agian, this has to do with the build quality. Taking a block or whatever else to a quality shop WITH A WARRANTY will let me sleep just as good as a stock block at night.
