Default OT: Anybody ever have their shipment damaged by UPS?

I had a transmission shipped to my buddy in WA a while back and I just had the opportunity to open the box to inspect my goods.

I know the tranny was in good condition prior to being shipped out (I have prev. pics to prove it)

and also the shipper told me UPS had reopened the box to repackage it before it was shipped out.

Alas, when I tore open the UPS packing.... I found this: CLICK ME!

I am hoping somebody has had previous experience in dealing with UPS when it comes to claims....?

Can somebody steer me in the right direction to get them to tame their gorilla handlers and compensate for my busted goods?

Ouch!
But I think it is kind of hard to prove that it was in "good shape" when the UPS guy received the item from the shipper.... But good luck tho.

IIRC, Pineapple Devil and nEoMuGeN (whatever way he spells it!) had some problems with UPS. nEo sent a spoiler or splitter but what Pineapple received was just an empty box.

Had many of pacakges damaged by Upiss before. Never had any luck with getting them to pay for it though.

If you had insurance on it, you will be in better shape. Otherwise, all that they insure is up to $100. Anything over that and your f#$@ed.

I think you have to file damage claims within 30 days, but check with them first.

The pacakge had to have been properly pacakged if you think you are getting anything back from them. Go to their website and take a look at the guidelines for properly packaging an item.

Quite honestly, if you followed the guidelines to properly packaging your tranny, you would have needed a 5 foot by 5 foot wooden box filled with 3 feet of foam. It is ridiculous! If you did a sh!tty job of packaging it, add a little extra padding before bringing it to them. They will then hold it for some time to inspect it and ship it back to the sender.

Basically, they make it a royal Pain in the *** to make a claim. God forbid that you really need what was sent.

I f@#$ing hate UPS. I have been screwed out of so much money because they refuse to take care of their packages. Even the people who work there tell me they smash packages more when they see "FRAGILE." F@#$ing morons. End of rant.

Good luck.
