JDM = Japanese Domestic Market (products)
PW = Power Window (?)
DSM = Diamond Star Motor (Mitsubishi and Chrysler products)
Ricer = Big flash body kits and 17+ rim plus stickers on any slow Japanese car

JDM is a car or part built for the Japanese Domestic Market.

I don't know what PW means.

DSM is a car built by Diamond Star Motors, the joint venture of Chrysler and Mitsubishi that builds cars in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, including the Mitsubishi Eclipse.

"Ricer" is an opinion question. IMO it USUALLY refers to someone who has modified his (or her) car's appearance, often to make it LOOK faster, without actually modifying anything to increase its performance. Stickers, big wings, huge exhaust tips, etc often fall into this category, particularly when applied to a car that is not a high-performance car.

The owner's manual tells you to take it easy and not drive the car in VTEC range for the first 1000 km.

"breaking in" the car means take it slow and gentle in the first several hundred miles (or ~1000 KM). If you're getting an R, don't take it over 5,600 rpm (below VTEC point) for the first 1000 KM and don't be hard on the tranny and what not. It's recommended you follow these and that these precautions will make your engine perform and last better in the long run (100,000 KM +).

A friend who knows nothing about cars asked me what rice was, and it took a while before we boiled it down to a pretty concise defintion:

Rice: Spending money to make your car appear to be faster and/or a different car entirely, without actually improving the performance of the car to match the aesthetics. See also: Bullshit.
http://www.riceboypage.com is a very funny page, and will show you what not to do to your car

Welcome to the board, and hopefully soon welcome to the club! What color you gonna get?
