OT: where are you guys getting funding for your projects??
I've always seem to hit a brick wall with my projects with lack of funding, but it seems to be people have infinite pockets...is it credit cards and worry about it later, rich parents, or you have a high paying job???
i mean i make a decent amount of money and being in the import parts distribution market, nets me parts at cost if not better, but seems to not be enough.
This is will be my 3rd project gone down the drain with lack of moolah

I think a lot of people waste money by stopping projects halfway to pick up something else... Finish what you started people. My teg is a longterm project, I've been buying pretty quality pieces slowly but regularly, in order to stay within my budget. I don't use credit on parts, I don't trust myself, I spend enough cash as is. I'm a college kid with a decent job that affords me some spending cash every month and through skimping on things like food and drinking I can afford to do stuff to my car.

Ditto. Me too, good kid. I didn't do a penny on credit. I found shortcuts and good deals and had lots of patience. I didn't start the install until I had every major part I needed in my house. I took me a year. I just took my time. WELL worth it. I dont understand how you have failed to complete 3 seperate projects? Just work on one, till it's done? Am I missing somthing?

This is what you can do. Move back home, find a girlfriend who's going to school and is going to make BIG money when she graduates, work at an "import" shop, and just flood sponsors for sponsorships.
And while working at said "import" shop, rip people off. Customers and friends are all the same.
Oh, and get your girlfriend to pay for your car too.
THAT, my friend, is how you can finish your projects. HAHA!

shop around for the best deals...everyone wants to buy the brand new stuff or the hottest stuff for their cars..take time to shop around...u wanna rock volks and mugens...u gotta have pockets for that...i'd never take a loan out for performance stuff...i gotta other more important stuff to take care of like school and stuff...i dont mind being the slowest of the bunch until i get my priorities out of the way.... Most people want to the the fastest right then and right now...they start a project, realize they dont have enough money for it and start cutting corners...when they do that, thats when the real problems start and they start blowing up stuff...take your time, shop around and do it right
the big thing is that people buy 99 civics and such and have a 15k loan. i bought a 4k car, and dumped 10 grand into it.
be that as it may, i live at home with my parents still, and i make more than my mom
so, my expenses are low, and income is high. my girl just left me, so there's one less bill i have for going out and **** too.
don't drink, don't smoke weed, and eat ramen

Saving and saving for the rebuild
I really want to take a loan, but it will probably be denied because I don't have much credit built up yet.

it's called working two jobs and moving back in with your parents. and patiently waiting for your girlfriend to get her masters, and support you in your old age.
DIY has saved me allot of money. I make about 31k a year, so I am not doing to bad, but after living expenses, who knows. Im young so my car is a big priority to me. The bills get paid, then the car gets whats left. I usually dont live paycheck to paycheck but last month was a different story. Life would be allot more comfortable if I didnt have this DAMN CAR HABBIT to support. I dont mid it terribly though. Its worth it.

I sell Plasma once every two weeks. I get about $8.35 each time.
I'm pretty excited because at this rate I should have my junkyard turbo setup complete when I'm around 55 yrs old...

Say in school so you ca potentaly make more money later. Get married to a hard working woman that makes mad money and dosen't mind you working on Cars. (my personaly fave)
Since I graduated... I built the crap out of a 2000 Jeep wringler... now I'm on to a Boosted B16 Del Slow.
But the big thing is to not be in a rush. Plan the project out and have a relistic goal. (don't plan on a 600 HP daily driver with stock internals) Do it right the first time. Don't waste money on a cheap part knowing you are going to upgrade it later.
