Default yet another "itr owner gets a chance to be in s2000" post...

i got a chance to be in an s2000 yesterday. engine feels good. don't know why everyone complains it's weak. i do admit the itr feels faster, but the s2000 isn't that far behind imo... it's very smooth too. couldn't feel the vtec though... no change in engine note; it just starts going even faster.

nice tranny. it felt notchy at first, but then after a few rows it never missed. really short too. not used to having the 6th gear. couldn't find a reason for it when driving. the gearing does feel short though. and reverse is down and right...

gauges are neat. i can get used to the digital tach, but the digital speedo makes u feel guilty every time u go over the speed limit because it's so blatant. i would have to choose the spoon gauge with the analog center

hated the transmission tunnel. it's like a carpet-covered log!

just when i started thinking twice about my itr, 3 fatal blows were dealt to me...

i'm 6'2" tall. when i'm in the car the windshield header bisects my line of vision. i have to either look over or duck down to see where i'm going. mostly duck down because the wind was tearing my hair out by the roots. and if u put the sun visor down... i'm blind!

so i put the top up... not good. the car had less than 20k kms on it and the stupid plastic rear window was already creased and cloudy. i had to play with the power up and manual catches simultaneously to get it to lock down. and when u look up at the underside of the top... the frame is exposed. it's like looking at the inside of a tent. yuck.

and then there is the trunk. yes it will fit a golf bag.... but i don't golf

i guess i'm keeping the itr

If you ever drive one with an aftermarket intake the vtec engagement is more pronounced. It also seemed like it had more mid range.I love that car

Damn Ben, u are 6'2"? U must be dunkin' on fools, eh?

Yeah, the S2000 is pretty small on the inside. I test drove one last year but I didnt get to go real fast. It took me a little while to get used to the height of the shifter! I like the torque and yes the VTEC is real subtle.

I found out the passenger side is even worse when I road raced in a buddies S2000 at the ITR Expo. You have to put your knees close together to fit because theyre isnt that much space between the tranny tunnel and the door handle! Not to mention the seat doesn't go back that far either!

Oh yeah, the shifter height reminds me of driving a forklift!

yea i tested it once too. i like the car and as Ben said the car is really smooth can't really heard the Vtec kick in . also one of my friend has Yellow 01 S2K
and yesterday me and my friend was testing the G-tech for our car from 0-100km
my result was 6.46 S
and my friend's S2K was 6.32S
but his is stock mine has custom made air intake and modified the throttle body and 5Zigen fireball muffler...
so i duno if it's the accurate number or not about G-tech
well i will go on the track with my friends ..
and i will like to know the 1/4 of my car and his S2K
hehe

I hope so. Your ITR is one of the tightest ITR's in the NA. I would say your car is one of top three best looking and modified R's on the board.

Ben - your car is awesome. It's subtle, yet got all the necessary go fast parts! Next time I'm in Seattle, I've gotta try to be in B.C. and check out your car and AJ-racing.

I'm 6'2 or 3 as well -- you learn to duck under the windshield to see stoplights.
or ignore them completely

understand about the VTEC -- the S2000's kicks in louder and harder than the ITR. The s2000 is faster -- but not by a large margain -- but it does drive the proper set of wheels
someone needs a lynching!

In the end though I enjoy my M coupe most on the road course, followed by the ITR. The s2000 is more of a cruising / pick up the hoochie kind of thing.
only one hoochie unfortunately... if the trunk were any bigger, maybe two

i shoulda known you'd focking chime in on this thread!

I'm 6'2 or 3 as well -- you learn to duck under the windshield to see stoplights.
you don't know how tall you are? freak.

i am also confused by everyone saying this...???? the s2k's VTEC is much more noticeable than the ITR's...sorry, it just is. you go from no torque (civic mode) then bam!...(some) torque!! it's no corvette kick in the *** but it's strong after ~6.5k rpms.

In the end though I enjoy my M coupe most on the road course, followed by the ITR. The s2000 is more of a cruising / pick up the hoochie kind of thing.
focker. you had to get that shot in huh?! the s2k is big fun on a road course and you know it.

I road in an S2000 on Hoosiers during an AutoX lap. Damn sweet car. Pulls mad G's in turns.

The only thing I didnt really like about it was the seats. The seats are hard as hell. Maybe I didnt have it adjusted right, but it was almost uncomfortable.

lol randy, you might have a soft ***? hehe, anyways, the s2k is a piece of **** and the ITR is ten times the better car...this is getting lame, we all know the s2k is not as practical as and ITR, let's move on now.

this is what i meant... i keep reading posts like this and not understanding why there is so much negative attitude... so i finally got the chance to be in one, and i didn't find it that bad.

i tried to approach it in a different mindset. rather than being a replacment for the itr, more as a second car, and definitely not as a daily driver, and the s2000 made more sense to me. but still... i'm too tall, the top is like a cheap tent (go sit in a bmw and you'll know what i mean... can't imagine what that's like in the winter), and that's not a trunk in the back
