will good rear tires make difference on autox?
I know you don't need good tires on rear at drag racing but i dont know how much good rear tires will make difference at autox. I never been to an autox. will it make huge difference having good tires on front and ok tires on back vs. having 4 good tires front and back? I am planning to have Falken Azenis Sport on front and cheap street tires on the back.
It's best to learn with 4 similar tires. Some drivers stagger tires (using narrower widths in the rear) to aid/induce rotation on FF cars.
You may get the rear swigning around earlier than you need it, but it is OK. Keep the Azenis up front and you'll be fine.

Reducing the grip of the rear tires will give you more oversteer. Depending on how your car is set up it can be helpful or a hindrance. With FWD cars it is beneficial to have oversteer, but if you do it by putting crappy tires on the rear then that also reduces the cars overall grip.
I would go with Falkens all around.

yeah. some people recommended less traction on rear so you can swing the rear. i didn't understand why cuz i never been to autox before.
Basically it makes the rear of the car 'kick out'. If you can do this in a controlled manner you can make good time in turns. If you do this in an uncontrolled manner you end up pointing back the way you came. (And make terrible time.

Go try it - even as a spectator - ask lots of questions and hang out there.
