Default What air intake to buy

I am looking for a new Intake for my GSR. My AEM Cold Air shitted out on me just recently(a huge whole rubbed through). I'm left w/ the whole the size of a dime or larger. I don't know what route to go now. My setup is JDM ITR 4-1 header, 2.5 carsound cat, Greddy Evo catback. The AEM CAI did me well, but I don't know if I wanna risk it rubbing through again. I also thought if I get a short ram type intake I will maybe get some throttle response back. I hear the icebox is a good choice.

Anyone wanna give me their insight?

BTW, my plans for the car are pretty much on hold right now, so just assume this is all I will run for a while.

Look at this pipe...never seen it...
http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/...H.asp

Made by Top speed. It's carbon fiber and for the GSR. Only $140, then I could throw my AEM filter on the end of that...

Also, if I want the IceBox...where can I buy everything I need. Do I need anything from my stock box? I dunno if I have it anymore or not.

Heres my setup:

AEM short ram = $80 (any ebay 2.5" diameter short ram will probably do as well)
K&N RU-2820 air filter = $30
BSQ ice box arm = $30
http://www.geocities.com/bretq/DIY_Icebox_CAI.html

So total around $140 for a nice setup. Probably even cheaper if you can get a generic short ram intake and if you make your own bsq ice box arm.

stock filter + KN filter + some way to cut the stock filter to attach the KN filter = good DIY system

F*** V2 if your gonna spend that kind of money (300+) then get an icebox like comptechs (too bad arc doesnt make one for GSR) - Its the same principle of cold air induction w/o the chance of something like hydrolock.

I'm gonna be installing my DIY icetake arm pretty soon on my stock airbox... if I switch to a short ram, is it still gonna be beneficial?

Hmmm...$300 is a lot for an intake. I might just get a AEM CAI again...

Yup. Best of both worlds -- throttle response + cold air to breathe in

I would either fix the hole or get another aem because of the cost.

stock intake arm w/ icebox, and k&n filter instead of stock filter. Good throttle response and cold air. most people who run the icebox use the stock arm. I don't see using the short ram in conjunction w/ the icebox making that much of a difference.

Yea, i'm prob just gonna get another original CAI from AEM. ONly like $180. The main problem was I bought this first one used and it was fucked up before I even put it on. It had dents in it and whatnot. Holes already patched. Piece of ****. Maybe if I get a new one I can install it correctly and fix the problem.
