I started out with a 240 grit, then 320, 400, 600, 1200, 1500, and then 2000 (Wet sanded). That still shows some of the fine scratches in the light. I am going to the paint shop later today to get some 2500 grit to see if that will help remove the almost nonexistent scratches. I do recommend starting out, before you even use sand paper, using flapper wheels. These are wheels that go in your drill and have flaps of sandpaper and an abrasive sponge material. These wheels are great for removing gouges or raised areas on whatever surface you are polishing. Start out with the coarse wheel and then move to a finer one. Once you have the area fully sanded with the wheels, you can begin with the sandpaper. I am unsure of what polish is best to use, but I use Mothers Mag Polish. Its at Wal Mart for like $3.49. Good luck.

Oh Snap. I knew the thread was archived, but I didn't realize it was more that 2 years old. I just saw "10/21" and figured it was only a month or so old.
