anyone out there know how to trick the knock sensor for a PR3?

I'm using it for my d16y8 setup in my 89 crx si, so far the thing pulls like crazy after 5000rpms but tops off at 7000rpms..
isnt the rev limit supposed to be like 8000?

I was thinking that since the knock sensor isnt connected (I have one lying around, but havnt looked at the block to see if I can make it fit yet)
it makes the rev limit lower...?

any ideas? other than re-chipping the ecu?
