CRX starts without clutch engaged!?
My gf started the car without the clutch engaged last night. Totally blew me away. It starts up just fine as if the clutch was in. I did it later that night to confirm that it works and indeed it does. Everything sounds normal and what not.
What could be the cause of this? What harm is being done?

if its an 88 then thas how they made em for some reason i had a 88 crx si and a 88 hatchback dx and they both started witout steppin on the clutch aint nothin wrong wit it.........
Yup, to switch it over, you'd need the relay and an 89-91 pedal assembly. I'm using an 89 CRX Si one in my 88 hatch (just haven't bothered to wire it yet).
My 93 hatch starts w/out the clutch. I had an autostart installed a few years back, but since disconnected it, still starts w/out the clutch. I like it better that way personally.

Well, when you push the clutch pedal down, the clutch is not engaged.
Called a clutch safety switch.
Sorry to be an a$$hole, but reread your first line.

Thats what I was thinking.
Don't worry about it, and if you do want to change it, you do not have to get the whole pedal assembly, all you need is the pressure switch and relay, out of 90 up.

Personally I think the neutral safty switch is a bad idea. Before that darn switch if you ever broke down in the middle of the road then you could just put you car into first and use the starter to drive it over to the shoulder.
