Cam Shaft Replacement for 93 Accord
Ok heres a toughy project. Basically the deal is that the cam shaft in the 93 accord is shot and needs to be replaced. The area where the cam is is also full of nasty sludge. So can anyone give me some tips on replacing and cleaning up the mess.
Thanks
Eric

If your cam is shot from sludge or what not- the rest of the motor will be in equal condition. Sounds like someone didn't change their oil enough. I would find a junkyard motor to put in. The cam journals will be junk as well as the rest of the motor.
Well not even sure man because the car ran fine then it got in a wreck and sustained some body damage which was fixed then the car was picked up and when leaving the body shop about a mile it cut off. Mechanic said cam shaft needed to be replaced. So what do you think?
I would imagine the cam broke- we had one from a body shop that did the exact same thing- I would be leary of this being a quality fix. If the cam is in fact broken- it had to seize in the head- if you can imagine that kind of damge.
Yeah but i dont think it seized in the head, hell i'm not even sure if its broken. They had the distrubtor cap off and all of the spark plug wires out cause the head cover is removed and when we turned the starter over the cam rotated what seemed properly, what do you think. Maybe the garage was just bullshiting? What do you propose i do?
