how are the stock speakers on the teg
my teg has an after market head unit (alpine 45watt) and whenever i turn the music up first it seems like the speakers cant handle it and then the lights on the head unit dim when heavy bass hits. is there somethin wrong with my speakers, head unit or somethin else?? would this problem go away if i get better speakers, like infinities?

Stock integra speakers suck.
But, changing the speakers wouldn't effect this problem. Do you have subs or something? The "bass hitting" shouldn't dim the headunit, unless your using a large amp.

The stock speakers are adequate, unless your goin for a really good SQ setup. Dimming and such, you prolly should get a cap. I have 1 JL 12" w6v2 and when i turn it up either my headlights are shaking with the car, or they are dimming. But i haven't gotten a cap yet.

A capacitor should not be at all necessary for only a head unit. But I don't know why the lights on the headunit would dim.
As for the speakers, both of my front ones were totally blown when I got the car (all stock stereo). The cone surround was torn all the way around the cone. I took them out, found out they were made by Pioneer, and noticed it said 30W max on the magnet. I bought a cheap set of Pioneer speakers, which have the exact same basket design as OEM, so they went right in w/o any mods to the speaker pods. They can also handle 100W max.
I replaced my rear speakers (stock ones had warped cones) w/ some cheap Jensen 2-way speakers that my friend got for free when he bought his headunit (he already had nice speakers and didn't need them). I did have to drill new holes in the rear speaker pods to bolt those in.
All my speakers are 6.5" btw. I'm still running the factory tape deck (w/ Alpine 6-disc changer) because getting something new isn't a priority right now. But I do have a line-output convertor wired in to run my JL 10W0, so I have some nice bass response. I'm happy with the setup, mainly because it sounds good and cost me only a little more than $100 for everything I have in the setup right now (changer came w/ car).

um what kind of bass are you expecting from stock speakers...
I mean they sound okay... but ultimately if your looking for bass your gonna have to get a or some subs. you got a hatch or a 4door?

the head unit can make a huge differance. my friend had some problems with his oem deck in his 99 lude so he went to best buy, got himself a nice little $250 deck and it sounds a **** LOAD better imo. still stock speakers btw (2-6x9 in back 2-6.5 in door 2-6.5 in dash and 2-(guessing 2in.)tweeters also in door)

Caps are just band-aids! Not too sure about this one but see how your battery is and then check your alternantor. A stock headunit does not require enough amperage to make your headlights or anything at all dim.

shop for the right unit I have a panasonic that sounds like crap
even with aftermarket speakers
so I suggest you get yourself a unit that has an EQ incorparted
as well upgrade the speaker into 6 1/2 better sound.

I think the stock speakers sound great. I have a JVC KD-SH99 MP3/CD headunit powering the stock speakers and a 200W bridged amp powering a 10" sub. The car has plenty of bass and decent mid and high.

thats some jdm shizz yO! haha j/k
You should get a head unit that has eq controls in it or buy an eq. It makes a big difference.
