Default 1k miles on the FJR

Today I turned over 1000 miles. This bike is awesome. I know there isn't a better bike out there for the type of riding I do and my skill level. I'll never be able to ride this thing at its limit - at least not in the next 10 years. I havent put the saddlebags on yet, but I will this week since I am planning a road trip down to Houston next weekend.

Now I know there is no such thing as the perfect bike, but this thing is damn near close.

Mods I am considering:

cee bailey taller and wider windscreen - so i get fully enveloped in a bubble of still air in the winter. plus puttign the winscreen up sucks hot air up your legs and body - keeping you warm when its cold. putting the screen down gives a full blast of cool air. good stuff

Power commander USB - this thing is embarassingly lean at low rpm. its a 1300 for chrissake, and I'd like to putt putt around town at 2500 rpm more than it will allow. its just too lean for this kind of riding. if i richen it up a little down there, it will pull fine down there. this is just my style when riding around. i got a big motor i want to just have it pull me around without having to rev it to redline. over 4krpm the ecu goes rich and the thing goes into rip-arms-out-of-sockets mode. i will probably lose a few mpg but i am getting about 40mpg now so *shrug*

i wouldnt mind replacing the catalytic converters and mufflers with a free flow system but nothing too loud, this bike doesnt have that edgy raspy character and it wouldnt complement it to sound like a ring ding ding 600cc sportbike with no muffler.

Nice, glad you found your match. If it gets really chilly down there consider heated gear. That would be a 12 month season for you.

the heat is much more of a problem than the winter cold. i contemplate summer storage here.
