Default AEM Short Ram/B16 hatch

Before anyone mentions it, I searched and got differing responses ranging from no SRI's will fit without relocating the battery to someone saying all SRI's should fit no problem.

I'm looking for some first hand experience here, preferably. Which AEM Short Ram will fit a B16 hatch without moving the battery? I'm currently running the '91 Si CAI and I'm thinking the tubing is too narrow, and I'm there is some nasty flash flooding that I don't want to risk hydrolocking the B16.

Thanks,

Joe

Im running a akimoto short ram on my b16 civic. It is 3" in diameter and it fits pretty good. I think its for a gsr.

I used to have the aem intake made for a 88-91 on my old car with a b16 and it fit fine, no relocation of the battery was required. I also ran a cheaper akimoto style chrome 3" intake and that one fit perfect as well.

Heres the akimoto style 3"

Heres when I did relocate my battery and then installed a aem cold air for the 99-00 Si cause the piping is larger than the one designed for the 88-91. I did notice a big difference with the 99-00 Si cold air.

Great looking engine bay! How's the Neuspeed front strut bar fit over the intake mani? Is that the Si or DX strut bar? I'd like to pick one up as soon as funds allow.

So, basically I can go with the GS-R AEM SRI? I noticed the DOHC Del Sol AEM SRI is about $20 cheaper than the '99/'00 Si and $25 cheaper than the GS-R one.

The only DOHC Del Sol was the B16 so I'm assuming I'll go with that one if it fits.

Thanks for the help and any other comments/suggestions/ideas are welcome,

Joe

The Neuspeed bar is just designed for the 88-91, I don't believe they make a separate one for the Si and Dx. As far as clearance, theres no problem on either a b16 or a stock d16a6 motor.

Neuspeed fits both Dx and Si, that is another benefit of going with a trusted product over an ebay cheapie.

A GS-R intake will not fit an a b16 intake manifold. GS-R's use IM's with secondary's, requires the intake tube to bend downward to attach to the throttle body.

Thanks for the heads up, so the Del Sol DOHC intake is the one I'll go with then.

You can use that one, but its gonna have a different bend in it and basically look like the red aem cai on my silver crx. If you are relocating your battery its all good, but it might not fit with your battery in the stock location.

I'm not sure what you mean by Akimoto-sytle, is that silver intake made of custom piping modeled after an R/S Akimoto intake?

Actually now that I remember, that short ram intake was an akimoto......that intake was actually pulled off a 90-93 integra cause at the time, thats all we had laying around to use on my car....
