Oil Back Out
Anyone experience this problem on their 94-97 Honda Accord?
. I know I know it is all my fault I totally forgot to bring it to the dealers to have them fix the recall, yeap it was a recall on that car.
on me. So now since I can't get it fixed for free and my car sits in the driveway in a pool of oil....does anyone know how to fix it? Please let me know...Thanks

I guess you're talking about the oil seal for the balancer shaft. You'll have to take off the timing belt cover and basically do a timing belt job. Replace the seal, the belts since they're probably soaked in oil now, and install the retainer plate this time.
Sorry, there's no easy way out on this.

yeah pretty much what I thought
......it was time to do a timing belt anyways..guess it was soon now. So do I call up the honda dealer and that the retaining plate from them? So the poor design of the balancer shaft won't have oil back out again.

If the balance shaft oil seal fails, the engine oil will be discharged in huge quantities very fast.
More likely, you have a hardened oil pump gasket. It's behind the rear balance shaft gear and is relatively easy to replace. I replaced the gasket on my daughter's 94 Accord EX recently. It had a steady slow drip when running. Old gasket was hard as a rock. Check the following link for some pics and tips.
Note, this job is usually done w/ timing belts and water pump, so if you need this service, do them at same time.
good luck

Update: Fixed her.....3.60 cent part from Honda...all it is is a lil retaining clip that holds the balancer seal in place from popping out.
. Such an easy fix that I overlooked
.
. Anyone that hasn't done this on their 94-97 Accord should.
