Take off the distributor cap?

I don't know what wire from the distributor that i need to hook into my msd ignition. i have a 5g SH, does the cap have to come off. any body know where the best place to route the wire to the ignition key?

it depends did you buy an msd coil as well check out ntpog.org I think they have a write up on there somewhere...
