Default Charcoal Canister Question.

I have a 93 Accord Ex, I keep hearing this really odd noise that was coming from the passanger side firewall, So I thougtht maybe it was one of the solenoid valves in the PGMFI control box, so I took the box apart only to find that the noise was actually coming from that charcoal canister that is below the control box.

My question is if that is malfunctioning can it cause damage? I called Honda and a new one is like 204 bucks which seems insane. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

well, that thing is not cheap.

the fastest way to kill your canister is to overflow them with gasoline.
ever see people just to jam as much as gas into to gas tank? what happen is that the extra gasoline is flowing to the canister, which never designed to be in contact with gasoline, if that thing weight a ton, you know it's filled with gasoline

Hey thanks for the reply, well the car has been topped off on many occasions but it just started this noise recently I got this car when it was only 35,000 miles old and it now has 290,000 miles on it so if it were from fillin it too much the problem would have probably already happend. Also that is why the price suprised me that thing weighs nothing and it doesn't slosh around when you shake it so I don't think it's saturated with gasoline, however it does make a REALLY strange noise especially when you turn off the car, and sorry if this offends any women but the best way to describe how it used to sound was like a quief, and now it sounds sorta like that but with less of the escaping air sound and more of a grinding sound. I know hard to explain but anyhow that's what it's doing. I'm thiniking maybe hit up a you-pull-it junk yard and see if they have a used one.
