Started last night...the water temp goes up slightly while stopped or cruising but goes up to about 3/4 when I take off from a stop. The gauge hasnt actually got to the top yet.

I changed the thermostat and no luck. Both upper and lower radiator hoses are getting hot and the fan does turn on. The radiator is full.

Also..related or not...the car battery died at the exact same time the water temp started rising...and a sputtering problem appeared when taking off from a stop (only happened a couple times though..doesnt happen everytime)

Please help.

 

First check your radiator cap (pressure test it)
and then check for a leaky/squeaky water pump

What do the belts look like? my car overheated when at stops and stuff while i had a cracked radiator. Maybe your's in cloged, flush it?

Also you still running the stock radiator? if so, arnt those things small as hell like 2 4'x2' or somthing like half the size of the integra's? if so you should upgrade

Do you bleed the system after installing the thermostat? Try bleeding your system if you already haven't I had a friend once was having a similar problem and once we bleed his coolant system all was fine again.

 

Do you have a lot of crap on your radiator?

My car was getting kinda hot and it seemed like the fan was always running so i pulled the readiator
man, there was a lot of **** on there
bugs, leaves, dirt, stones, bird pieces ( i think i hit one), and fur(?)

i cleaned all that **** out and my car cooled right off
the fan was on less than half the time that it was before
