alternator question
ok my buddy has a ls vtec in his 2nd gen teg and he has had two alternators go out. the motor has 8k redline and is pushing 220 hp and we were wondering if maybe the high/quick reving motor was causing it to go out? He put a volt meter on the alternator to measure the charging volts and the first alt. was charging @ about 27-30volts wich is too high, and the second alternator is overcharging also. could the belt be too tight or could the hp be screWing up the voltage regulator inside the alternator? he also noticed that this all happend within a two week period of installing a battery relocate kit ( moved battery to the trunk) what should he do?
Niether of these alternators are " known good " alternators, but it seems very funny that they are both screwing up the same way. HELP

well the alt. that he just put on his car was the one off of his old car and was working fine then. he used a battery relocator kit which I guess was longer cables to reach to the trunk, but I will find out more info and let you know
