ok guys which one! time to get one!
in which magazine... I can remember numerious european and american that rated the rr better and vice versa. my counted 4 wins for the rr and 2 for the r6, this was earlier this year.

daytona isn't in there for a reason, it really isn't a good sport bike. can't go wrong with the rr or r6, the gixxer is basically unchanged, just new paint scheme. I would personally go with an rr.

I love the RR but it just feels so narrow when you sit on it, and honda are really unconfortable if you ask me. Havent taken it out for rides but I hear they are sick... Since I have a R6 Id have to say go for the R6.
But Im split between R6 and RR... 50/50
How about the Kawi 636?

good question, what is the verdict on the new kawi 636, i saw one the other day and it was pretty and roared nicely.
by the way marky marc: every bike is different because at 6'3" the r6 sucks for my riding style and the kawi and suki are too odd but the honda fits like a glove. so it depends on the size and style of the rider. i would say the rr and r6 are so close that everyone is hesitant to pick only one.
shiftstain: remember price is a big key are you into used or only new?

ShiftStain, if this is your first bike, NEITHER. I think you should get a used starter bike for the first year or so.

Oh cool, good luck. No disrespect, just wanted to keep another beginner from another new bike.
Personally I'd say wait till you get the reviews from the new GSX-R600. Suzuki is always 1 step ahead of all the other companies.

There's always a greater/faster/newer bike that's coming out. Mad props to Suzuki for putting out sweet products, but everyone said the R1 was the penultimate bike to beat when it came out. And they said that about the Fireblade when it came out. If you must have the latest one, then I hope you've got some deep pockets. Otherwise, be happy with what you've got.
And my vote is for the CBR600RR (but I'm sure you saw that one coming). The bar-height (or lack thereof) is murder on my wrists, but I'm sure a set of Heli Bars would cure that. And it should be reliable as heck!

Blah blah blah about the comparo's. Everyone is different. Go test ride them all and see what you like. As for the 3 new 600's, my opinion is the 636 has the best brakes and most mid range torque, the r6 had the best flickability, and the 600rr feels the most stable and smooth. All of them are great bikes though. They all handle great and have tons of power. For an average rider, they pretty much are the same.

He posted up the '04, which is redesigned.
Anyways, this is what I posted on another board:
"I had the same dilemma but it was geared more for a 2nd bike (canyon/track). I've had the oppurtunity (with the help of some very nice friends) of riding the 03 600RR and 03 R6 for a couple of days each. I took both bikes thru the streets of Los Angeles and its local mountain roads. The verdict for me was that the low to mid range power advantage from the R6, along with its less aggressive sitting position made it more practical for the streets. I was very surprised to see that this little 600 can clutch wheelie 2nd gear sit downs and stand ups like my 954. I just loved riding wheelies on a stock 600 in front of the liter bike guys (even though I am one myself). But the big downside of this bike for me was shown in the twisties. Under heavy acceleration the front became very light and twitchy. The only thoughts running thru my mind were dredded tankslappers (definately diverted my concentration at times). This is where the 600RR steps in to shine. The forward weight design of this bike definately helps keep the front in check. The steering reacts to speed as if it had a damper on it (light at slow speeds and stiff at high speeds). This definately was a confidence booster and allowed me to push the bike harder (which it took in stride every step of the way). The zip at 10k+ RPMS was very responsive out of the turns and the cry at redline never failed to put a smile on my face. So, I personally think both bikes are GREAT bikes, but since I'm looking for a better canyon bike right out of the box, I'm going with the 600RR. You won't lose with either one. It's all up to you."
Bottom line, if you're focused on canyon/track get the 600RR. If you like stunts and ride alot of street, get the R6 (the 600RR's riding position does get to you after a while). The R6 would make a nice canyon/track bike with a damper.
As for the new gixxer. It looks like they've done great things to it, you might want to wait and see.

I know that every bike is different as far as confy level... But all I was refering to is that TO ME the RR feels narrow and the seat is like sitting on a brick....
Anyways, the verdict I read about 636 are very good. I heard from a lot of people that a steering damper is a good idea for the bike, but beisde that lots of low-mid power. And if your tall it sits a tad bit higher than the RR and R6.

Please stop posting misinformation. The daytona is a very competant sportbike. Good chassis, good brakes. A little down on peak power compared to the late model supersports but smooth delivery and not FI hiccups. A definite improvement from the TT. The 04 gsxr 600 and 750 are all new, not unchanged with new paint as previous. Magazines sell magazines and ads. Bikes sell bikes, go sit and/or ride and ignore most of the advice here.

I say get the one that looks the best asthetically (sp) to you. They are all so close performance-wise it doesn't really matter. You know how the 600 class is.
Get whatever you like... read up on them, sit on them, ask friends to try theirs or how they feel if they wont' let you, then pick a color and buy. They're all so close other people's opinions shouldn't matter...
I've driven the R6, zx6r, and own an F4i... i love the r6 and my f4i but dislike the kawi's locomotive feeling and wide tank...

didn't know the gixxer was an 04. as for the daytona, i read all reviews how twitchy the suspension was so forth, they are always rated at the bottom of the list.

my friend will have his '02 cbr954 up for sale soon. he wants the new 1000. dunno if he wants to do a trade it in or not, but if you can handle the power, the 954 is frickin awesome. he just wants the latest out there.
Suzuki all the way. They dominated AMA this year. They always have built good bikes, and they always will.
I mean 2003 all the companies except suzuki released new bikes, and the Suzuki still hung with them, so they had an extra year to develop their new bike, and I don't think they would release it unless it kicks the rest of thebikes *****.
