Default U2Q7 on board :) At last...

Of course it was bolt-on as expected. All clutch assembly fits directly. The gearbox looks much stronger than a regular one: the outer walls are doubled, has more reinforced arms inside, the differential has a special supporting arm. U2Q7 gearbox is much heavier than stock one... No problem with VSS and mounting...
Impressions?
One word: wow
No more jumping on a wet surfaces while starting. You can feel on the steering wheel which wheel is getting the traction. Making corners is awesome I spent whole gas tank driving around in the night
Gears are way shorter and the car accelerates better. Fourth gear feels like it is third
I could also notice that my trip speed is higher... I usually travel at 140 km/h and now it started to be 160-180 km/h as I play with gears more...

That's why is 25% more expensive Mine, besides of a bit dirt on the housing, works perfectly. No grinding etc. Like new. I poured it with Honda MTF and I love it butter-shifting

ok, assuming traction. the shorter the gears the better. hands down. the only time it comes a prob, is when you run out of gear, but then you get bigger slicks

I always went w/ shorter gears, but for boosted cars the old VW turbo guys say longer gears are better, b/c it loads down the motor more, making for a better traction, heavier boost run...?! I believe that's about what they say...

Personally, i'd stay w/ the H23 tranny just for traction's sake.

about the only thing longer gears are good for is more lag. a lot of people seem to like the h23 tranny, and thats fine, but for all out accel. and race shorter is better. m2b4 here and loving it.

if you want traction, get lsd and some good tires.

you have to buy a new tranny, basically. try to get one w/lsd. so far my factory lsd is still holdin it down at 300+

lsd-yes

psi-~8 for now

whp-272 whp UNtuned@9psi(spiked). it kept crepping so we just richen up the fuel, and retarted the timing. still made 272 on 2 passes. this was on a fully stock motor that had been sitting half disassembled for over a year. has about 80k mi on it.

since then i swapped heads. my built head has full ferria .5mm oversized valvetrain, tit. ret. bumped compression from 9.5:1, to about 10.5-11:1. disconnected balancer belt.(only cause its a bitch to put on in the car). put in walbro 255hp. ported the **** out the wastegate port. changing to 3 bar map. some other little stuff. we'll see what happens on thursday...going to the dyno

This is true, as is the saying the old VW guys say. I've read it many, many times. NA and Nitrous use smaller slicks that allow for a smaller "final drive" since you'll need quicker accel off the line, but with a turbo setup you want bigger slicks to control wheel spin and also for the longer gears it provides, seeing how the turbo will make up for any difference in accel, and with the fewer shifts it's all the better.
